Benilde Little is a bestselling author whose groundbreaking fiction challenges entrenched stereotypes of African Americans. She was among the first authors to put on the page intelligent, edgy stories about class and relationships among contemporary African American men and women.

Little, a former reporter for People and senior editor at Essence, is currently a writing professor at Ramapo College, and continues her career in novel writing.  She lives in Montclair, New Jersey with her husband and their two children.
