Persia Walker is the author of historical novels, she is also a contributor to the anthology Mystery Writers of America Presents: Blue Religion. She a winner of the Author of the Year Award by the Go On Girl! Book Club.
Persia has served on the Mystery Writers of American (MWA) mentoring panel and as a member of the board of the MWA’s New York Chapter.
She has written for The Associated Press in Arkansas; Washington, DC; and New York. She has also written for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Inc., in Munich, worked as a freelance book editor, and done cultural reporting and voice work for European publications.
As a teenager, she studied drama at the High School of Performing Arts in New York City. At age 16, she won a scholarship to Swarthmore College, where she majored in Comparative Religion and minored in Black Anthropology. She later earned a masters degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.
