Christopher Grant

Christopher Grant was born and raised in the heart of Brooklyn, NY. He did his undergraduate and graduate work at Stony Brook University, receiving degrees in Economics and Human Resource Management (as well as a minor in John Madden Football for the Playstation).

Teenie marks Christopher’s debut as an author. “I love to tell stories. If you ask any of my friends, you’ll be sure to hear that I’m a certified blabbermouth. In jest, one friend suggested that I try my hand at writing. Ten years later, Eureka!”

Christopher was inspired to write from a female’s perspective after reading an article about publishers looking for men writing as women. “I grew up in a household that was dominated by strong female influences. My mother and three aunts, each with their own unique temperament and assortment of quirks, had a profound affect on me as a child. After reading that article, I figured who better than me than to write that kind of story?”

Christopher currently works as an equities trader and lives in Harlem, NY. He spends his free time reading, writing, playing basketball, and traveling the world with his wife and family.

“Teenie, that’s what my girls call me. I’m 5 feet ¼ inch, 101 pounds, with all my books in my bag and a pair of waterlogged Timberlands on.”
In his debut novel, Christopher Grant captures the trials, tribulations and celebrations of being a teenager. TEENIE is an authentic narrative told by Martine (Teenie for short), a high school freshman who lives in Brooklyn and is striving to find her way and find her own voice.

Teenie is a good student, with a bright future ahead of her. She loves her parents, however strict they may be, and couldn’t make it through a day without her best friend Cherise, although Cherise seems to do 96% of the talking and hardly any of the listening. But Teenie is itching to get out of her Brooklyn home and to live in Spain, where she will be enrolled in a prestigious study abroad program. Teenie’s path to greatness is derailed when the captain of the basketball team—who she’s been crushing on for months—finally starts to pay attention to her. To add to the distraction, Cherise is starting to get more involved with a guy she met online who keeps sending her expensive gifts. Soon, Teenie’s mind is on anything but her schoolwork. Her longtime crush isn’t what he seemed to be, nor is her best friend’s internet love. Can Teenie get her act together in time to save her friendship with Cherise, her grade point average so she can study in Spain, and save herself from a potentially dangerous relationship?

TEENIE is a remarkable story about friends, family and finding oneself. Readers will pull for Teenie from start to finish as they are engulfed in the authentic sites and sounds of the Caribbean population of Brooklyn.
