Electa Rome Parks, one of the rising stars in contemporary fiction, is the author of the best-selling novels THE TIES THAT BIND and LOOSE ENDS, which were originally self-published through her own company, Novel Ideal Publishing and Editorial Services Company, a company now dedicated to quality editorial services.
After successfully self-publishing her debut novels, New American Library, a division of Penguin Group, bought the rights. Mrs. Parks signed a three-book deal with New American Library. Her first novel, THE TIES THAT BIND, was re-released in October 2004, and LOOSE ENDS was re-released in November 2004. Both books were immediately chosen as Black Expressions Book Club selections and embraced as Books of the Month by book clubs across the country. A third manuscript, ALMOST DOESN'T COUNT, which was immediately chosen as the Main Selection for Black Expressions Book Club for September 2005, is slated for publication in August 2005. Parks states, "This is just the beginning of my literary journey that confirms dreams do come true and nothing or no one can stop the predestination that is laid out for each of us."
Recently, Electa signed her second book deal with New American Library/Penguin
Group. Her upcoming project is tentatively entitled: LADIES NIGHT OUT (NAL,
2006).

Urban Books superstars Electa Rome Parks and
Eric Pete entertain readers
with daring and empowering stories about the love lives of full-figured
women.
Big, bold, and beautiful are three adjectives that describe Erika to a tee.
Named after her mother's favorite soap opera vixen, Erika Kane, she is
self-assured, headstrong, and opinionated. But Erika is also unlucky in
love. Whenever she thinks she's found everlasting love, it always ends up
being short-lived--literally. She has three dead husbands to prove that
point and she has been dubbed the black widow. Just when Erika is about to
give up on true love, she learns that, like it does in the soaps, love
sometimes shows up when you least expect it. And like it does in the soaps,
it can sometimes be deceiving.
Once again, life has gone wrong for Artemis Clay. It seems like she's always
been unlucky in love, and this time is even worse than she could imagine.
Her own family looks down upon her, and everything looks hopeless. Artemis
decides to leave everything behind for a last-minute getaway. While she's
enjoying her newfound freedom, she comes across not one, but two reminders
that maybe not all hope is lost. Is she ready to take a chance on love
again?

A whole decade has passed since Baldwin, Brenden, Bria, and Christopher last
saw each other. In college, they were a close-knit circle of friends who
called themselves The Group--until an unfortunate set of circumstances
placed their friendship in jeopardy. They went their separate ways after
graduation, never looking back, and never expecting to see each other again.
Now they are reunited in a small North Carolina town to attend the funeral
of one of their own. Rihanna was always the peacemaker of the group, so it's
almost fitting that it's at her funeral that The Group will have to confront
their past issues. Baldwin, the romantic, Brenden, the do-gooder, Bria, the
wild child, and Christopher, the pretty boy, are all about to learn some
truths about each other and about themselves over a few unforgettable and
life-changing days. Secrets will be revealed, past hurts exposed, tears
shed, and laugher shared, all in the name of friendship and love.

Xavier Preston is tall, dark, and handsome, and the problem is that he knows it. He's a bestselling author who is accustomed to adoring female fans, both young and old, flirting with him, throwing themselves shamelessly at him, and trying to get between more than the covers of his novels. He's engaged to a beautiful woman, Kendall, and he's decided to walk the straight and narrow. Or has he?

Praised for its "cutting-edge dialogue, intriguing characters, and a spicy storyline," Electa Rome Parks's The Ties That Bind introduced a savagely honest look at modern romance. Now, in a back-to-back publishing event, Parks returns with her next novel of love and friendship and the betrayals of both-some forgiven, some never forgotten.
It's been five years since they trusted one another-and betrayed one another- only as friends and lovers could. Beautiful Mia, getting a second chance at love. Christian, who gave up his player card for the one woman he's not sure he can trust. And Brice, as irresistibly bad as ever. One woman can tame him-if he'd give her the chance: Kree, innocent but underestimated, and looking for the kind of passion that can change a life. When she finds it, it's going to come with a price. Sometimes, it doesn't take a lot to tear apart friends like these. All it takes is love.

Here's a straight-up novel about men and women, sex and betrayal, and playing the fool for love. Mia is a hopeless romantic who dreams of getting married and settling down with the man who could make that dream come true. Brice has his own ideas about love. He wants a woman willing to surrender everything and he thinks he's found her in Mia. Then again, so has Christian, who likes love to last just as long as the night takes. Now he's met an angel with the power to turn him around. Unfortunately she's married to his best friend.

Little did Electa Rome Parks know that her unforeseen downsizing in 2003 would actually serve as a catalyst for her biggest career blessing to date. As it turns out, getting the axe from Bank of America cut Parks off from corporate America, but it jumpstarted her literary career: Six months after receiving a pink slip, Parks went from part-time writer to full-time author, landed a high-profile literary agent, and got a six-figure book deal with a major publishing house.
