It's the return of the sistahs! Tastes Like Chicken is Lolita Files's much anticipated continuing story of the lives of Misty Fine and Reesy Snowden, the dynamic heroines of the bestselling novels Scenes from a Sistah and Getting to the Good Part. With steamy thrills and disastrous infidelities, Lolita's latest is a tale of two women who find themselves poised at life's crossroads with everything to lose but their friendship. What's a girl to do when she finds out her man's been feeding her lies? When readers last saw them, Misty had just married her dream man, Rick Hodges, and was off on a fabulous honeymoon. On an equally hopeful note, a pregnant and newly engaged Reesy was riding off into the sunset with her fiance -- reformed ladies' man Dandre Hilliard. But it isn't long before the men start misbehaving again, and in Tastes Like Chicken, they get what's coming to them.

"Lolita Files 'Getting to The Good Part' is Phenominal
First of all I'd like to take my hat off to this refreshing author Lolita Files. The
characters of her second novel. Are twice as stimulating as they were in 'Scenes From A
Sistah'. Because through Lolita's characters demostrate many struggles that all of the
true sister girls deal with. Plus she throws a little Maxwell in just the right chapters.
To spice things up for Reesey when she get's into her little funks. Lolita has a way of
melting Fiction along with much reality with her visions, in her storylines. She's also a
dear friend of mine and I wish her all best!!!"
From Publisher's Weekly:
Files's attempt at a Waiting to Exhale is an amusingly superficial
but mainly unrealistic sequel to her first book, Scenes from a Sistah, about the same
couple of flawlessly beautiful good-time "ghetto" girls living it up in New York
City. "Corporate bigwig" Misty Fine has become romantically involved with and
ultimately engaged to her boss, Rick, leaving her best "sistah," dancer Reesy
Snowden, resentful and wondering what she wants for her own life. Reesy lands the lead in
Black Barry's Pie, an off-Broadway musical, and her fantastically successful stage career
is launched. Reesy's narration leans heavily on urban slang, which becomes tiresome. Her
escapades are entertaining, though outrageously inconceivable, as she hops from one fine
lover to another (apparently heedless of AIDS), receives the gift of a Porsche from a
boyfriend and even drunkenly flirts with Wesley Snipes--who just happens to be eating at
the same restaurant. Reesy's relentlessly silly chatter reveals her as little more than
shallow and mean-spirited: though Misty "was always complaining that she didn't have
the high, round sistah booty I'd been strapped with, it apparently never stopped her from
getting any play." The result is a perfunctory performance clearly angling for the
movies. Author tour. (Jan.)
