Ronald M. Gauthier was a life-long resident of New Orleans before Hurricane Katrina forced him to evacuate. Before he became a novelist, he worked as a social service counselor, an adult education instructor, and a library branch manager. In each role, he served his fellow New Orleanians by bringing them knowledge that might otherwise have passed them by whether performing literacy instruction for prisoners or connecting a community to the world of information. Gauthier’s novels, Prey for Me: A New Orleans Mystery and Hard Time on the Bayou, are shaped by more than two decades of public service and love for his home city. His experience as an educator in Louisiana’s prisons brings a realism to his storytelling in Hard Time on the Bayou in particular, while his life in New Orleans’ African American community informs both works. Holding an MA in Counseling from Xavier University, and a MLIS from Louisiana State University, Gauthier currently resided in Atlanta where he is completing his next work based on events surrounding Hurricane Katrina and a sequel to Prey for Me. Paperback: 315 pages Jeannette Plaisance is back on the trail of another elusive mystery, this time pursuing two witnesses to the murder of hotel executive in New Orleans. She teams up with the co-owner of her private investigation company to solve this case, all of this occurring as the city witnesses the maddeningly high re-emergence of violent crime. Jeannette's brother, Dr. Marcel Plaisance, is also back, and he pursues the intriguing genealogy of their family, where secrets and revelations sprang from their history.
ISBN: 0976826119 Jeannette Plaisance is an attractive, strong-willed, sharp detective on the trail of a serial killer. The victims are young Black males viciously murdered during the city's skyrocketing homicide rate, so no one notices the killer's pattern. Before Jeannette can stop the killer's master plan, she has to fight racism and sexism in the good-old-boy police department. How she wins is a lesson for every woman.
ISBN: 0976826100 Jerome Duplesis, a mild-mannered business professional, is adjusting from a temporary loss. But his life spirals out of control when he is wrongly arrested and convicted. Gauthier's experience as an educator in Louisiana's prisons
brings chilling realism to his storytelling.
