S. D. Edgehill was born in St. Croix and raised in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. She began writing at the age of 11. She has written in multiple arenas, as a press intern, as a Congressional Aide, as Vice President of Education for Toastmasters International, and as a Technical Writer.
"As early as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a writer. I penned my first short story at age 11. It was my first attempt at an original idea after creating the characters inside my head. The story, however, never made it farther than my grade school notebook.
I knew then that I wanted to be a storyteller, but I also knew I wanted to share my stories with others. The odds are great for would-be writers, but I felt compelled to tell my story. In 2003, I self-published my first novel, To Honor Thy Mother. I had finally fulfilled a lifelong dream of seeing my story fill the pages of a book.
When I am not writing, I am usually spending time with my family and
friends in Atlanta, Georgia where I reside. I hope you will enjoy reading my
book as much as I enjoyed writing it."

To Honor Thy Mother is an intriguing tale of hope, separation, betrayal, and escalating violence. Kayla Bishop recounts her twisted coming-of-age story from the day that she is removed from her grandmother's protection and returned to her mother and sadistic stepfather, Adewale, to the day she testifies in court about a murder.
Kayla cuts her teeth on Adewale's power plays, encounters the bizarre world of her father who chases his children around the house in a grotesque display of familial incest and goes away to college to put the past behind her. Ultimately, Kayla must return home to honor her mother.
