A Message from Paul Coates, Publisher, Black Classic Press
Dear Friends, Readers and Supporters,
As many of you may know we are publishing Walter Mosley's newest book, What Next: A Memoir Toward World Peace. We are pleased as hell that Walter brought What Next to us. We worked with Walter to publish Gone Fishin' in 1997. Wow, that was a lot of fun. Walter continues to make us so proud. He is an exceptional writer and a Black man of conviction that keeps giving back to our community.
In What Next Walter has written a deeply personal and political proposal, offering a commonsense approach to the challenge of finding world peace in a post-9/11 world.
What Next dares to propose that African Americans can have a voice and play a leading role in creating world peace. It challenges global capitalism, which profits from creating wars, hunger and death around the world. It condemns our government's corrupt political leadership and its subservience to corporations as opposed to the democratic will of the people. And perhaps most provocative of all, it encourages everyday people to take action to bring about world peace.
Reader be warned: this is not another 9/11 book. In an engaging and unique style Walter argues, for African Americans, with centuries of experience fighting against slavery, racism and oppression, the struggle for global equality is a natural role.
We are pleased that What Next was recently excerpted in The Nation. If you would like to review this excerpt, pick up a copy of The Nation (January 27th issue) or view it online at http://thenation.com/doc.mhtml?i=20030127&s=mosley
