Hello. It only took me a few hours to read this bad boy. I guess I can qualify it as one of those books that can make you lose sleep. So, if some words are misspelled and the subject isn’t exactly agreeing with a verb, I know you can sympathize.

Getting To The Good Part picks up where Scenes From A Sistah ended. One significant difference between the two books is that Reesy is the narrator of this book. I love that Reesy. We go through more trials and tribulations with Misty and Reesy, more drama. I think I was a lot more into this one because with Reesy something is always going. Files shows a more reflective, softer side of Reesy that Misty kept telling us was there but which I couldn’t completely swallow.

In Getting To The Good Part, we find out that Reesy is crazy about Maxwell. Then there’s Reesy’s adventures in the theater. Reesy runs into that man that called her out in Scenes From A Sistah and she lost her job when she slapped the pee out of that old, mean Millicent. That was a good one when Misty said that she saw Reesy reached all the way back to Kansas and then the next time she saw Reesy’s hand it was on Millicent’s white cheek.

I would have loved to have seen more interaction between Reesy and her parents but I didn’t worry about it too long, there was plenty of things that Reesy was doing that kept me laughing and hoping for my girl.

I do know that if you have read Scenes From A Sistah, reading will give you a more complete picture of the friendship of Reesy and Misty. If you haven’t read Scenes From A Sistah, read it first BEFORE you read Getting To The Good Part. Getting To The Good Part makes a number of reference to events that happened in Scenes From A Sistah, and you’ll have a better understanding. For instance, Misty runs into Roman again…with his wife Sandy! IT WAS HILARIOUS!!!
