Product Description: Everyone in the world, it seems, is either prettier or thinner (or both) than Beauty Marie Zavala. And the only thing "B" resents more than her name is the way others judge her for the extra 40 pounds she can't lose. At least she has her career. Or did, until she overhears her boss criticizing her weight and devising a scheme to keep her from being promoted. Enter B's new tax accountant, a modern-day matchmaker determined to boost B's flagging self-esteem by introducing her to rich, successful men who will accept her for who she is. As B's confidence blossoms, so do her fantasies of revenge. But will B find true happiness or true disaster when she unwittingly falls for the one guy she shouldn't?

This book has a good message, but takes a while to get there. Since the reader never knows how much Beauty weighs, it is easy to think of her being only a few pounds too big or being as large as an elephant. Most readers know at least one person that fits this category so it is easy to empathize with her problems at work. Makes a good summer book.

I loved this book because it fearlessly captures what every woman goes through in all it's absurdity and darkness and tenderness on her way to discovering what makes her beautiful. You will never look at yourself the same again after reading this book because it changes allows you to rethink the way you see yourself in the world for all it's flaws and qualities. And it does so without being smoltzy. It shows you how to fight for the right to enjoy your appearance-un apolegetically and with a great ... Read More

Despite reading the entire story I was left with a feeling of disappointment with this book. The story started out normally - Beauty, a twenty-something advertising agent is unhappy in her job and her life. She attributes a lot of her unhappiness to her weight and struggles to overcome self-depreciating thoughts. One day she meets Natasha, a Russian/Ukrainian woman who makes her a job offer she can't refuse, and that is where the book morphed from a light chick-lit into a really bizarre story. I don't ... I thought it was a great book. It was not too short nor was it too long. The characters really caught my attention. the only person, they left hanging was Alberto, have no clue what happened to him, but all in all I would recommend this book to all of my friends. Oh wait, I think I know what happened to him, lol. But it was what I needed in a time of depression and doubt about my own life.
I would like to know if the author, Alberto, since then, has written other books about Beauty or ... Read More

Page turner? Yes. Stupid? Yes. Not so into the man trying to get in touch with his inner "chubby girl". And okay, parts of it are funny and/or sweet (hence the one star). Each trial/ tribulation that B experiences is linked to some silly material acquisition or contact with the -gasp- opposite sex. She develops a lifetime's worth of self confidence in this kind of cause and effect. Every woman knows that being a woman is never so straightforward, nor can you really grow if you only think about how ... Read More
