Gifted
Voices
is a nationally distributed, monthly publication
whose sole purpose is to promote the literary talents of emerging and established African
American writers. If it's for, by and about (fiction, poetry, non-fiction, etc.)
African-Americans, it's of interest to our readers.
Each issue of Gifted Voices, is devoted to a particular genre, will spotlight a contemporary or historical African-American writer and is packed with submissions from aspiring writers. Monthly features also include a listing of best selling African American books, a calendar of events, a spotlight on an African-American bookstore, a Reader's Review corner, and a segment on African-American children's books.
Submissions Guidelines All submitted entries should include the works title, the authors full name, mailing address, telephone number, e-mail address, website address (if applicable), and fact checking information where appropriate.Acceptable submission formats are Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, ASCII or Rich Text Format (RFT) on PC-readable diskette or via e-mail. Hardcopy submissions can also be submitted via regular mail to the address below, Attn: Submissions.
Please do not send original manuscripts or only copies, as all submissions become the property of Gifted Voices.
Novel excerpts and short stories should not exceed 2,000 words. Poetry should not exceed 300 words.
Artwork, photos and book covers will be presented in black and white and should be easily cropped or reduced. Scanned photos and book jackets should be in .tiff format.
Published books or galleys can also be submitted for review to Attn: Book Reviewer. Please also include a 25-50 word synopsis, artists bio and publication information.
