Sister Circle was established s a book club and community organization. The group is a club of empowered women friends who find that the surge of African American writers whose work cover themes of the Black experience have made black literary discussions fresh. The mission and primary purpose of the book club is to spiritually strengthen and unite ourselves as sisters. We wish to improve our family structures and lift up our communities. We have a medium to use literary discussion as a sounding board for addressing real issues and concerns of our people. We come together to learn about ourselves through the books we read the ideas we share with each other. The Sister Circle meets once a month (every third Friday) to engage in enlightening and intelligent discussions on various book topics, i.e., fiction, romance, drama, nonfiction, biographical, and motivational/informational. Membership is by invitation only.
