Of the two names I have a personal preference for “Cynique” but as Shakespeare said a rose… 20 years is a long time the Kola Boof era seems like a lifetime ago. I don’t think I’ve seen her in a good 10 years and when I did, she seemed perfectly normal Our discussion forums pre-dated social media; launching around the time of NetNoir. Melanet, Black Planet and other black owned platform— ancient history in terms of the World Wide Web. It was a period when Black people really enjoyed and we’re proud of using black owned properties. Indeed we were trapped on copy serve in America online constrained by their rules.. the World Wide Web opened up opportunity for Black people and we took advantage of it Today Black people would rather strive to be popular on white owned ones platform. It is a variation of the white man’s Isis holder of the house, Negro paradigm. White own properties exploited what apparently is an innate human characteristic to seek the approval of others; accumulate followers collect likes. It is really changed to behavior of many people people sharing on social chasing the “like.” Of course everyone has not fallen under this spell, but many have, too many if you ask me. @ProfD describes the form as a coffeehouse. He is not the first one to do that. I think the interactions here are more reflective of the real world than social media. At any rate, I appreciate the participation of everyone even those I disagree with — which will be everyone from time to time

Agreed. That is they are just crude or undisciplined. If you are joking or trying to make a point cursing is generally appropriate depending upon the room. Interestingly, most of the Black people I speak to from across the Diaspora what are they from Europe, Africa, or the Caribbean a better versed on colonialism and white racism than most Americans. They have a global perspective. At least that is true for the ones that I’ve spoken to here in America. But it’s probably a class issue…

I'm glad you decided to return to the forum. I always enjoy your contributions. Keeps this place alive. Brotha Delano, we have a limited amount of time and bandwidth and have to use it accordingly. So, I appreciate whatever you choose to contribute to the forum. IMO, AALBC is a discussion forum. A virtual coffeehouse where folks banter over various topics. Dialog does not have to be confrontational or persuasive or combat. Nor do we have to agree on everything or anything. Civility is a low bar and easy to maintain. Since I believe laughter is medicinal, I prefer a humorous approach. I can usually find something funny in the most serious subjects. Life is short. @aka Contrarian, that's why I enjoy your posts even as we agree to disagree. I see comedic source material as we go back & forth. Bring the funny. Regular participation on this forum is low but I appreciate each and everyone who chooses to pop in and chop it up.

Inuses to have two logons but I forget the password of both. I can't recall but I think i used a different tone in both. I also had Troy reset my password. I also dont contribute as much as I used. Partially because I am not into trying to convince anyone of anything. Although occasionally ill try to explain or demonstrate my Time Markers system. I am probably only online between 10 - 30 on thus forum and FB. Another few minutes in Instagram if that a week.

For anybody who is curious as to why I no longer use my original user name on this forum, why I, who was once known as "Cynique", am now known as "aka Contrarian", this is the explanation. I have been contributing to this discussion forum off and on for over 20 years. Back in the day, as a retiree who was an aspiring author, its "African American Literary Book Club" title drew me to this site. And having always considered myself to be somewhat of an "iconoclast", I decided I wanted my avatar to reflect my personality, so I came up with what was a combination of "cynical" and "unique". And the "Cynique" moniker was born, replete with a somewhat devil's advocate persona; always skeptical and a tad sarcastic, - (something which contributed to my ongoing feud with the notorious Kola Boof, a semi-famous drama queen). Otherwise, with a few innocuous exceptions, over the years, I formed several cherished friendships with people I encountered here and with whom I still keep in touch with on FaceBook. Anyway, with the passage of time, while others came and went, I remained a long standing member of AALBC, and Troy rewarded my loyalty by naming this site "Cynique's Corner". As more time passed, however, I eventually became burnt out and, contrary to the insinuations of some people, I voluntarily decided to go on hiatus, subsequently telling Troy he could drop the "Cynique's Corner title; which he did. With the passage of more time, I finally decided to check back in, but I couldn't log on because I'd forgotten my pass word. When I tried to log on with a new password word, I was unsuccessful, the reason given by the computer being that somebody already had that user name. The fact that the "somebody" was me made things more entangled, and after I contacted Troy, he assigned me a special password to use. That, along with adopting a different user name, enabled me to log back on to the discussion forum, at which time I explained that "aka Contrarian" was the poster formerly known as "Cynique". Obviously, the word "contrarian" preserves the cynical essence I originally wanted to convey. Only one person ever found this to be a problem. Whatever. As Shakespeare once said: "What's in a name? A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." It is what it is... And, don't be surprised if that "one person" chimes in with a stream of pictures along with references to flowers and bees and wasps and Cynique this and Dolemita that, yada, yada, yada. zzzzzzzzzzzzz

POTUS Says Quiet Part Calling Out Somalias
Pioneer1 replied to ProfD's topic in Culture, Race & Economy
ProfD No matter how f8cked my brotha or sista may be, nobody has a right to mistreat him or her...not even me. I agree that they shouldn't be MIS-treated. To MIS-treat someone is to treat them in a way they don't deserve. Treating a violent thief and dope addict with respect is MIS-treatment. They should be avoided. We know the conditions that led to our dysfunction. Gotta get the right medication to fix it. Some of these niggaz weren't LED to dysfunction, some of them were BORN dysfunctional. A result of the drugs their parents were using while conceiving them as well as the vaccines and other toxins in the environment. The same can be said of many Africans. The racists have been putting shit in the environment to fuck many of our people up and you see the dysfunction on BOTH sides. Neither side should let the most dysfunctional elements of the community represent them. Leave them alone if they're not worth being around. Just don't pass judgment or throw shade at them either. No contact. That's what most Africans do, but some of these niggaz STILL talk shit about THAT....lol. They talk about Africans like dogs....then turn around and complain about how Africans don't want to live around them or work around them or go to school with them, lol. Damn The bigger problem is wanting to be liked. Mutual attraction still works. Supposedly, there's somebody for everybody. That's just human nature. Everybody wants to be loved and liked by SOMEBODY. You don't care if some people like you or not, but there are certain people you are very attracted to for one reason or another and WANT them to like you. Me.... As I said, I'm a Pan-Africanist and I love Black people as a group unconditionally and ofcourse I would like that love reciprocated. Eskimos....I don't care. Siberians....I don't care. am*zon Indians....maybe...lol. Who taught Black folks to h8te themselves? The same people who are sitting back eating popcorn and smirking at how AfroAmericans and Somalis are trading licks online. They are patting themselves on the back for a job well done. Their socialist system makes other countries look/feel bad. I don't know much about Venezuela or how well the country is doing. Can't exercise power without missions, plans, objectives and goals. Correct. And you can't have missions, plans, objectives, and goals without a decent working brain and the intelligence to formulate them. Goes right back to the INTELLIGENCE factor I often speak of. We have a certain amount of financial power but we're not perceived as a threat capable of violence. Nor should we have to be. Look at the Koreans, Indians, and Pakistanis in the United States. They aren't seen as a threat capable of violence but they have a lot of financial power and are doing quite well as groups. You don't need to be "threatening" to be successful in White America. We cannot let a few good experiences enjoyed by a handful of people lead to invitations to cookouts and BBQs The question is...does the good experiences out weigh or out number the bad experiences? And again, it boils down to the individual. I personally have had good experiences with Africans and when they get to know me they don't avoid me. On the other hand, I know a lot of Black folks who don't get along with them and neither one can stand the other. But these Black Americans also smoke a lot of weed and many of them did long years in prison and engage in criminal activity and usually talk crazy around Africans and everybody else they come into contact with. You can't let how Africans treat THEM determine how they'll treat YOU or another Black America not engaging in the same lifestyle. I don't even hang around THEM kind of niggaz, so I don't blame the African for not wanting to either. Whoever brainwashed them needs to fix it. Lol....why would they want to fix a problem they CAUSED in the first place? As far as they're concerned it IS fixed. They brainwashed them to fear and avoid AfroAmericans. That was their intention, so ofcourse they don't want to undo what they did. They have a vested interest in keeping the tension and hate going. Divide and conquer FBA/AfroAmericans need to leave those capes in the closet. When was the last time they had them out? The last time they even TRIED a cape on to fly to the defense of other Black folks was back in the 1960s with the Civil Rights Bill. Today if you pulled that cape out it probably has more holes in it than swiss cheese from all moths feasting on it....lol Them capes probably don't even fit some of these fat out of shape descendants of the older generation of freedom fighters who originally wore them! Many of the young people of this generation ain't helped nobody out, including other AfroAmericans. I told you, they'll talk about Africans but if Africans aren't around they'll talk about and clown on eachother too! Many of them ain't gonna cape for Africans OR Haitians OR YOU EITHER if you need it because they're selfish and inconsiderate! Who are they helping, laying on the couch smoking weed and talking shit online from some janky ass cell phone. Let everyone hold their own. Once we've gotten the smaller tribes together, maybe one day we can have one Big Black Beautiful Bill. Good luck waiting....lol. -

The bigger problem is wanting to be liked. Mutual attraction still works. Supposedly, there's somebody for everybody. Remain separate. Let them find their own tribe. Who taught Black folks to h8te themselves? Seems that bug has become a feature genetically. That doesn't stop white folks from starting wars and conflicts to take whatever they want. Right now, boats are being blown up in international waters because the white folks want regime change in Venezuela. Their socialist system makes other countries look/feel bad. Can't exercise power without missions, plans, objectives and goals. There's no shortage of b8tch-made Black men who won't bust a grape. They're often chihuahuas. Make a whole lot of noise. No bite. We have a certain amount of financial power but we're not perceived as a threat capable of violence. Minority situations. Just like dysfunctional n8gglets. They don't represent the whole of us. We cannot let a few good experiences enjoyed by a handful of people lead to invitations to cookouts and BBQs. Whoever brainwashed them needs to fix it. FBA/AfroAmericans need to leave those capes in the closet. Let everyone hold their own. Once we've gotten the smaller tribes together, maybe one day we can have one Big Black Beautiful Bill. Gotcha. Same here. Along those lines, just like family members, some Black folks need to be treated with long-handled spoons. Understood. As we should be able too. Humans fighting for one reason oe another is a part of our existence. Especially when it has been instigated by enemies. That's why even as proud FBA/AfroAmerican Black man, I will kick it with my brothas and sistas across the diaspora but I stay in their azz and keep their heads ringing like a church bell whenever they're talking noise based on propaganda they've been fed by the devils.

ProfD Asians and Latinos serve a purpose to FBA/AfroAmericans from fast food and beauty products to a non-existent Black/Brown alliance and s8xual access. Africans and West Indians have mostly showed contempt for FBA/AfroAmericans from avoidance to outright disrespect. Don't know how often you've heard Africans and West Indians throw shade and talk real greasy about FBA/AfroAmericans. Online....I've read it a lot and heard it quite a bit. I real life, not so much so. I've pretty much seen them just keep away from a lot of our people. But honestly, most Africans have always been respectful and friendly to me personally. I've ate at African restaurants, Africans have invited me over to their house, to their events. It doesn't happen on a routine basis....but through out my life it has happened frequently. Some of these American niggaz...I'll be real with you bro....they're so foul they can make a damn BRICK cry, lol. You can't always go by how badly Africans or even White folks treat SOME of our people, because of how fucked up THEY are. A lot of our people are so dysfunctional they can't even get along with eachother. Foul and fucked up attitude. How can we get mad at others for not wanting to be around them or feeling some sort of way about them? How can we expect others to just love and embrace us with the attitude some of our people have? For a very long time, I've been of the belief that FBA/AfroAmericans should have no contact with other groups of people that do not want to be bothered with us for whatever reason. Everybody is different. Me personally, if a person didn't like me I usually wanted to know WHY. Whether it was an individual or a group, I always wanted to know WHY...even if I felt it was unjust or couldn't do much about it, I wanted to know WHY a person felt they did. A lot of our people could care less as to why or reason. The problem is, whatever is causing ONE person not to like you may also cause OTHER people not to like you. As I said before, many of our people can't even stand EACHOTHER and don't want to be around EACHOTHER. Some of them are so dysfunctional and fucked up and that stench is enough to turn the boogy man himself away...lol. We have all of the flavor that everybody else wants to emulate. Unfortunately, FBA/AfroAmericans haven't done a great job of commodifying and gatekeeping our natural resources...talent and abilities. That's true. However like what I used to see when I was a kid....... A lot of niggaz are quick to teach White folks and Latinos our styles and dance moves, but then want to clown on the Africans and other Black folks for it. That's that self-hatred. When Whites emulate us....we feel honored, but when another Black person does it we say: Nigga...stop bitin' and get off my jock! You have written that several times across various threads. For whatever, you believe FBA/AfroAmericans have power and authority that we really do not have without it being sanctioned by white folks. Real power and authority usually has to be taken by force. The enemy doesn't give it anyway. Authority yes. However real power isn't taken because if you are strong enough to take power from another then that means you were MORE POWERFUL than them to begin with. We have a substantial amount of power as AfroAmericans already, we just aren't using it. We have enough power to do do far more than what we're doing right now. Run up on a Black man you know and take something from him and find out how powerless he is to find you and get it back...lol. Say the wrong thing to a Black woman you work with and find out how powerless she is...lol. We HAVE power, it's how we CHOOSE TO USE that power is the issue. I don't feel that FBA/AfroAmericans should be compelled or obligated to speak one way or another on behalf of immigrants. They have never helped us. Let them hold their own nuts. I can't speak for our people as a group, but individually....some immigrants have helped me in what Neely Fuller Jr. would call areas of people activity. Including labor, entertainment, and sex...lol. There are a lot of other AfroAmericans who have been helped by different immigrants...including Africans...in various ways. We can't let dusty ass no good niggaz and THEIR bad experiences with or avoidance by immigrants affect how we get along with them. I know many of them have been brainwashed to hate and mistrust AfroAmericans, but that like Lauryn Hill said...that hypnosis can be reversed. But it will take effort on the part of the INTELLIGENT Black folks from both camps (Black American and African) to do this. I do business with them and I'm getting love and intimacy from them. I don't want ignorant ass niggaz online fucking it up for Black Americans who ARE getting along with Africans. -
Lol....I'm a Pan-Africanist. I have an Unconditional Love for the Black race. Not for ALL Black individuals....because some Black folks ain't no damn good and need to sleep with the fishes....lol. But as a group, I love Black people regardless of nationality, culture, religion, label, or language. I'm in love with our people and I can't hep it. Which is why it hurts to see our people fighting with eachother.
-
From the tenor of your posts, I think you have a soft spot for Black immigrants...Africans and maybe West Indians too. Just know that you aren't schooling or getting them hip to anything. As ingrained from their culture...they have little or no respect for FBA/AfroAmericans. it's rather insulting for them to judge you for cussing, cursing or vulgarity. Whatever chooses to come out of your mouth is an inalienable birth-right. Don't let the lure of that African snatch box gaffle you up. Stay FBA/AfroAmerican...Black man.

ProfD As people get older, they become more rigid in their beliefs and positions. When I was younger, I thought I had the answers. As I've gotten older, I find myself asking even MORE questions...lol. Presenting evidence and proof merely reinforces or substantiates claims of the person making the case or argument. When done effectively, sometimes a person might change their mind after being presented with enough evidence and proof i.e. facts. Provided that their point of disagree is THEE actual problem. If I'm working with a racist dude who doesn't like me we can be arguing over a particular project and how it should be managed. I could be right and he could be wrong. But me correcting him or trying to won't make much of a difference anyway because: 1. That correction is coming from somebody he doesn't like or respect and 2. Whether or not he's correct isn't the real issue. His problem is the fact that he doesn't like me because of my race. Even if I correct him on THIS issue, he'll find another one to justify his bitterness hostility. The older I get the more I understand the wisdom of people like Booker T. Washington and Elijah Muhammad who stressed us getting our own businesses instead of seeking "good jobs" with White folks.

Why don't you include "Dr." in your name? Technically speaking, aren't you Dr. Love? -
Technically speaking..... The only words that could be considered cussing or cursing is "damn" and "hell" and their various forms Both the African girl AND her mother who works there too are very religious. And it's interesting to me that her mother can speak better English than she can! So I started breaking it down for both of them..... Her mother just stood there looking up at me with her arms folded grinning. The word "cussing" is really a slang and mispronunciation of the word "cursing". And what's being said isn't really cursing but "vulgarity" or crude language. I told them words like fuck, shit, and others aren't curse words or profanity...just vulgar or so-called "bad" words. Her mother kept standing there looking up at me grinning with her arms folded and then asked me was what I said supposed to have made a difference and make it more acceptable...lol. I might marry THAT woman...lol.

Scholars and philosophers wrote the scriptures so it makes sense. The truthfulness of it has been a source of discussion and debate for hundreds of years. Nothing written by humans should be considered gospel or holy. They were just trying to 1) mind control and 2) get paid.

Right. The intent and meaning remains. It's almost like pig Latin. With AI and data mining, we don't know what will be drawn to the site. Guess it really depends on several factors. Upbringing, environment, social class, etc., influence how people choose to communicate. Unless one is the CEO, it would be hard to work in a highly professional environment and cuss a lot.

ProfD If Black folks in law enforcement and the judicial system decided to go rogue and start chasing down and incarcerating racists and murderous white fokks, they would not have that job for very long. If ONE person breaks the law...it's a crime. If EVERYBODY breaks the law...it's a revolutionary act. Ofcourse one or two Black folks who try to buck rank and try to go their own way may...MAY...be met with some disciplinary action, but in a city like Milwaukee with probably HUNDREDS of Black cops and deputies in law enforcement....surely if they all or even just MOST of them acted in unison towards getting to the bottom of hate crimes done against Blacks in the state of Wisconsin, there's not a racist in that state on or off the police force who could stop them. Those same Black folks would get fired and lose everything...house, vehicle, clothes, shoes, jewels, vacations, etc. Surely, as someone who believes these people should occupy those jobs as long as they're not harming other Black folks, you can understand the unwillingness to f8ck up their livelihood.

Yeah, I remember you said that before. To me the words mean the same thing whether you censor them or not. In other words..... If you type "sh!t" you still mean "shit" whether you say it or not. If you type "d!*k" I know you're still talking about a dick....lol. I'm no computer expert, and I have a rough understanding of how algorithms work and how one word often attracts related words. Are you saying that using vulgar language attracts the wrong crowd to the site? It's one thing to be juvenile and go overboard where every other word is a vulgarity. However on the opposite end, I've learned to NOT trust some people if I never hear them cuss...lol. It's as if they're not being real, or being a bit phony....lol.

Troy Do you think the Negroes on social media are representative of the larger population? I don’t. I'm not sure, but their influence is definitely having an impact on the thinking of the greater population. Look at the recent election and how more and more Black folks either voted for Trump or sat out the election. This wasn't as a result of Trump's policies, because they clearly weren't beneficial to AfroAmericans during his first term. So what explains the INCREASED support for Trump among AfroAmericans this go-a-round, except for more AfroAmerican cheerleaders on social media hyping him up? ProfD The hard-working dude sees America as a land of opportunity. He sees the immigrants as ungrateful freeloaders. I'm not sure how hard working he is, but my question for Black dudes like this is....where was all of this energy for the Asians and Latinos who are FAR more numerous than the handful of African migrants here. They've BEEN here by the millions sucking up resources, yet I didn't find ONE video of him going off on them on his youtube channel. Now he's got all types of smoke for other Black folks. Complaining about immigrants will not benefit AfroAmericans in getting reparations. However, it could possibly eliminate the number of Black folks who could stake a claim to reparations. It's not the fault of Black immigrants or any other immigrants that AfroAmericans haven't gotten our Reparations yet. It's OUR fault...because we are clearly in a position to give it to ourselves and haven't. We have FBA at all levels of government, so what's stopping us from pushing through a Reparations Bill ourselves? Especially when Obama was in office. There are Black folks who love this country and believe it belongs to them just as much as racists do. You're absolutely correct, because I'm one of them....lol. Infact, AfroAmericans roots usually go deeper in this country than most Whites who are descended from relatively recent Irish and German migrants from the late 1800s and early 1900s. -
I grew around folks who felt that people who cuss a lot have a limited vocabulary. I showed them two things can be true...a relatively intelligent person who swears like a sailor. In real life I cuss more than enough. In writing, it's usually unnecessary when ideas and/or opinions are being communicated. I enjoy watching religious folks tie themselves in knots around me. They don't understand how I can be agnostic and cuss a lot. I do self-censor here because I don't want to draw the algorithm into getting up in the bizness.

Ending Birthright Citizenship: Are These People Serious?
Pioneer1 replied to Pioneer1's topic in Culture, Race & Economy
ProfD NF Jr. said Black people should always be prepared for relocation. Facts Looks like this administration will be testing it. Even if they are unsuccessful getting the Constitution changed, that may not stop them from doing whatever they want. We can look at the recent deployment of the National Guard as examples of that. Regardless of what the judges say....the troops stay. What good is some judge in Oregon declaring that National Guard deployment in D.C. is illegal if Trump is just going to KEEP them there anyway regardless as to the ruling? -
Out side of the various Black Panther organizations floating around the United States, we have hundreds of thousands if not MILLIONS of Black people in law enforcement. What are they busy doing? Waiting on orders from their White "superiors" to investigate these incidents and apprehend the suspects? I've said it before and I'll continue to say it.... It's one thing for Black folks to be victimized in the 1800s or even early 1900s. But when Black folks are in positions of power and authority in 2025. When you have Black judges, lawyers, politicians, and police officers with weapons and training and you STILL want to sit up there and let some racist cops brutalize Black folks or even let the Klan EXIST....who else is there to blame but ourselves? What's stopping Black police officers in Mississippi from getting together and investigating this and capturing the suspects? What's stopping Black cops in Wisconsin from doing it?
