Many fragments of ships in the fleet of the National Space Exploration Administration (NSEA) crackle or spark aro und the Kuu ship\, a massive lumpy unevenly shaped pinkish vessel spitting out laser blasts\, absorbing anything in particular like stretched bubble gum twirled back into the mouth to be chewed. Demarco-Taggart jr. stand i n this lethal blob somewhere\, unrecognizable while surrounded in Kuu tech \, appearing like a pink sand statue in a tide\, an eye peering from his e nraptured soul to the carnage he is guiding to his former fellow NSEA offi cers after being abducted.  \n\n\n\n   \n\n\n\n In a fragment of an NSE A ship\, in a hall with flashing red light pulsing in eminent darkness\, a Lieutenant run past crew folk\, telling them to get to the escape pods. T he Lieutenant gets to her room and the door opens and she cries out at the sight\, pushed back by the heat\; her son and husband are in hot metal ru bble\; she is able to reach her son and fortunately a crew man arrives\; s he tells them to get her son\, Scorpius\, to an escape pod. The crew man g ives Scorpius to another and advises the Lieutenant to leave. The Lieutena nt exclaims without question she can't leave with her husband\, Clay\, who is motionless under burning rubble. The Lieutenant burns her hands\, repe atedly trying to get through rubble to Clay aided by the crew man while pl eading for the crew man to help. The crew man uses a communicator and asse sses Clay's spirit has flown. The Lieutenant is inconsolable\, and the cre w man grabs her and pulls her away to an escape pod. In a minute later\, w hile embracing a deadly calm\, the Lieutenant sits next to her sleeping so n\, watching the fragment of ship Clay's dead body lay in explode\, like t he last firecracker giving out hope.  \n\n\n\n   \n\n\n\n ...Three year s later\, Scorpius is happily sculpting a fish\, while a box shaped device with a button and red light is next to his work \,in the rec room of a sh ip\, the ceiling of the rec room plays soundscape music while it appears l ike a morning sky on Earth. Scorpius's mother enters smiling\, calmly walk ing to her son.  \n\n\n\n \"Hey Scorpius\" \n\n\n\n \"Hey Mom\" \n\n\n\ n They hug and she kisses his forehead.  \n\n\n\n \"Ready to go\" \n\n\n \n \"yeah\" \n\n\n\n Scorpius taps a button on the little box\, and a lig ht goes from red to green\, and the sculpture disintegrates on the table. The parent and child exit\, with the Commander pressing a button revealing a window to space where the ceiling was\, showing a part of a space stati on\, like a giant red crystal floating in space. \n\n\n\n   \n\n\n\n Th e space station was Man Klar designed\, by the reflective skinned Fulesian s\, as a guard tower over Miensa. For hundreds of years the Fulesians occu pied Miensa and used the\, three skinned\, Miensans \, Miensa\, or the Gat eway\, however they saw fit. This red quartz like space station became a c onstant reminder of the blood shed by Miensans until the NSEA Fulesian war \; said war led to a peace deal where Fulesa left Miensa. Now months after \, Man Klar is Farthest Frontier 3.1415\, a space station controlled by Mi ensa which will be used to NSEA in process of Miensa becoming a member.   \n\n\n\n   \n\n\n\n But Miensa has no fleet or natural resources of gala ctic worth. A fiscally unimpressive planet with an ancient while non-utili tarian gateway\, and an old space station going through an exodus. And in its promenade\, Major Koshi\, of Miensa security formerly of Miensa resist ance\, is trying to fix a fractured section of a wall. The frustration of trying to place many little pieces properly is overwhelming. A cat calling whistling sound is made on Koshi's chest communicator. She is notified th at officers of NSEA have arrived. She leaves for the docks. At the docking bay\, Tech Sergeant Bebre waddles into Farthest Frontier 3.1415 complaini ng of the docking bay clamps and the condition of the hull she saw from th e outside\, being held by Doctor Rama who signs the Sergeant how happy he is to be in this location\, with its ancient history and the historic mome nt. Koshi greets them\; eyes widened at the sight of Bebre. Koshi admits s he never saw a Sleen before. Bebre informs Koshi this is her forty fifth p regnancy\, being an officer in the NSEA can be quite eventful. Bebre signs the Doctor to go on to the infirmary with the Major\; she has to look aro und in her big baby\, and she has her communicator if need be.  \n\n\n\n   \n\n\n\n Koshi walks with Rama to the infirmary\, and he ask her\, do es she have any idea what the gateway will be? Koshi reply\, she doesn't k now but the gateway has never brought anything good to her life. Koshi lea ves Rama inspecting the medical ward\, which has NSEA components lodged in to the Fulesian structure.  \n\n\n\n   \n\n\n\n Commence Station Log. F arthest Frontier 3.1415\, Commander Ethel Twta \, Me and Scorpius have ent ered a new chapter in our lives. This station is at a pivotal moment\, and I have little time to prepare or manage or guide\, but if a team can be f ound among the NSEA and Miensa officers\, the best chance possible for suc cess will happen.  \n\n\n\n   \n\n\n\n Commander Ethel Twta enters Fart hest Frontier 3.1415 smiling with her son\, the duo hugging as they walk t o their quarters. On the way she reminds him to have patience with this ne w home alongside himself. He admits he misses Miensa's calm country but co nfirms he will do as she guides. They enter their quarters and Ethel says gently\, get yourself comfortable and we will have dinner together later\, remember me and your father love you\, are proud of you. Scorpius smiles and Commander Twta leaves.  \n\n\n\n   \n\n\n\n Commander Twta \, headi ng to the operation deck\, is assessing the station and its inhabitants fi rsthand\, when Koshi exasperated greets her. \"Hello Major\" smiles Twta\, but Koshi is wary and say\, the gateway will take another shape soon and for the first time in hundreds of years Miensa could have benefited from i t if possible\, but the provisional government rejected that to hand it to NSEA. Twta reaffirms that NSEA is only interested in guiding Miensa. Befo re Koshi can reply\, a cat calling whistling sound comes from Koshi's ches t communicator. \n\n\n\n \"What is it Eyea?\" \n\n\n\n \"Pro-blem-in-pro -me-nade\" \n\n\n\n Koshi turn from Twta and say \"we will talk again\"  \n\n\n\n Koshi goes to the promenade and Twta follows.  \n\n\n\n   \n\n \n\n In the promenade three figures are held still by Energy beams emitted from\, Security Chief Eyea\, a Dedom2\, an ancient race of sentient elect ronic drones. Of the held\, one is a child\, the other two are adults. Kos hi arrive and speak straight to the Ataut child\, his completely red eyes untelling.  \n\n\n\n \"What are you doing Pee?\" \n\n\n\n the child repl ies: \"just a small training exercise Major\" \n\n\n\n Eyea interject: \" found-caught-re-veal\" \n\n\n\n Eyea use a beam and reveal an empty space where a wall appeared to be. Pea shrink and Koshi smile: \"Well well\, li ttle fight clubber\, Eyea take them to the brig\" \n\n\n\n \"Woo wowowo w oo wait a minute\": loudly proclaim an Ataut adult\,: \"my family 's fight here is done\"  \n\n\n\n Twta loo on as Koshi reply: \"No Been\, your co usin broke the law\, you know the Miensa government doesn't allow fight ri ngs\"  \n\n\n\n Been look about and notice Twta and say: \"But I believe this station is a cooperative between NSEA and Miensa \, and we all know N SEA loves being cooperative\" \n\n\n\n Twta tells Eyea to continue their operation\, and Eyea escorts Pea to the brig. Twta's chest communicator sa ys in a male sexy voice: \"How! Does! It! Feel!\"  \n\n\n\n Twta gets a m essage from an officer. The NTE-3120 has arrived. Twta gives confirmation and tells Koshi: \"We must prepare the station for the celebrations of the gateway. I will be back shortly\" \n\n\n\n   \n\n\n\n In the meeting r oom of the NTE-3120 Commander Peter Demarco-Taggart jr. sits calmly as Com mander Ethel Twta enter\, her anger evident on first glance by Taggart jr. But Taggart jr. offer a handshake\, happily saying Commander\, and Twta s lowly accept saying Commander with a bitterness. Taggart Jr. is confused. \"Have we met?\" Twta reply: \"only in battle\" Taggart jr. comprehend ins tantly. A silence exist in the room. Taggart jr. look away\, offer no word s. After a time\, as Twta stand patient\, Taggart jr. say: \"I came to off er assistance\" Twta reply: \"No thank you\, we will do fine on our own\, and if I am not up to the task I will resign\"  \n\n\n\n Taggart jr. gest ure to say something but dismisses it. Twta ask: \"is that all Commander\" Taggart jr. shake his head and Twta say: \"I will never give up... never surrender\" and exit the rec room of the NTE-3120. \n\n\n\n   \n\n\n\n In the office of Eyea\, Been is waiting for Twta while Eyea handle informa tion managing its own floppy disk drives. Twta enter the office and Been e agerly approach stating: \"His uncle's son will be out of the station's ha ir as soon as they leave and they are already packed\" \n\n\n\n Twta repl ies\, \"I want to discuss your future plans\" and continues \"If everyone leaves the station\, it will become a dead zone which will hurt Miensa. I need you Been\, to stay\" Been reply :\"The Fulesians allowed the fighting pits which fit me and my cousins way of life\, while the Fulesians achiev ed profit from the gamblers who came from every sector of the quadrant... but without the pits how do me and my cousin live as Atauts? Without the f ighting pits\, where is the money? \" \n\n\n\n Twta reply: \"The Miensa g overnment opposes fighting pits but if I can get a tax on the activity\, w ith the promise\, the guarantee of no deaths\, will you take on the fight and stay?\" \n\n\n\n Been reply: \"If I say no\, will my cousin be free\"  \n\n\n\n Twta reply: \"Ask Eyea\, he has the jurisdiction\" \n\n\n\n E yea rotate a cylindrical section like a negative shake of the head. Twta b egin to exit and say:\"It is your choice Been\, if you choose to accept\, the festival for the gateway is needed and I want this station to have a f estival. you can organize it\, and your cousin can help... if you accept\" .  \n\n\n\n Twta exit and enter her and Scorpius's quarters\, where she f inds her son laying on a couch and she sighs.  \n\n\n\n   \n\n\n\n In t he NTE-3120 \, sixty-five-year-old Lieutenant Laredo is in the digital con veyor room side his wife Alinta\, their bags prepared. Commander Taggart j r.\, Lieutenant Laliari\, Dr. Lazarus\, Tech Sergeant Chen with his cane\, Security Chief Ingersol in his exoskeleton look on lovingly. Laredo speak : \"I started in this ship as a pilot\, became a science officer under the best teacher\, met my wife\, raised two children and became a grandfather multiple times. It has been an honor\" \n\n\n\n Taggart jr.:\"thanks tea ch\" \n\n\n\n Chen side Laliari present Laredo side Alinta a cake. Ingers ol smile and point a finger: \"ready when you are\"  \n\n\n\n Dr. Lazarus is saddened\"... By Grabthar's Hammer\, by the Suns or Warven\, you shall be blessed\"  \n\n\n\n Laredo and Lazarus give the Mak'Tar salute. Alint a say: \".. don't worry\, we will take care of each other\" and she smiles . Laredo finalize: \"good luck on your mission guys\, too bad you can't st ay for the gateway opening\" \n\n\n\n   \n\n\n\n In a dock of Farthest Frontier 3.1415 Alinta tell Laredo: \"I will go to our room\, and prepare\ , you know Ananda's kids will be here soon. But you need to get acquainted with this crew\" \n\n\n\n \"Thank you wife\": and Laredo kiss Alinta \n \n\n\n \"Thank you husband\" \n\n\n\n   \n\n\n\n Lieutenant Laredo sees the festival on the promenade. Mostly Miensans but other life forms as we ll are celebrating the return of the Gateway. Laredo see Commander Twta\, Scorpius\, Major Koshi\, Eyea\, Bebre\, Rama\, aside Miensa clerics on the observation deck while Been has customers in his fight pit and his cousin Pea is calling out the activities of the festival. Laredo taps Twta on th e back and Twta smiles: \"hey teach\" \n\n\n\n Scorpius hugs Laredo. Twta says: \"everyone meet Lieutenant Laredo\, my teacher in the academy when he took a hiatus from galivanting about the stars.\" \n\n\n\n Everyone gr eets each other. Koshia says: \"You got Been to stay\" \n\n\n\n Twta repl y: \"I am here to help\, and I will prove it to you one day with actions\"  \n\n\n\n Koshi smile. Bebre say: \"This will definitely help the baby an d the babies to come\"  \n\n\n\n Rama ponder: \"What will the Gateway loo k like this time... a little research and it seems to change and where it will go is really in the air\" \n\n\n\n A female Miensa cleric look to Tw ta and speak \"with the Chosen here\, the Gateway will do as destiny wrote and heal Miensa an beyond\" \n\n\n\n   \n\n\n\n Suddenly\, brightness as if from a star appear. The light grows and grows until it forces all to squint\, and then the light ebbs to reveal a door. The people int eh prom enade cheer. Bebre say: \"the composition is not indicative of any known p rior form of the Gateway\"  \n\n\n\n Laredo say:\"the ship's telemetry sa ys it goes to the Nu Quadrant\" \n\n\n\n Koshi is in shock. Rama is excit ed.
