So I don't have an issue with the white power in media of the past \, ev en if it has a financial or communal source of action against blacks or no n white europeans. But\, the past created an environment where many black people in the usa or elsewhere rarely see themselves in media unless they have\, as i did\, two black parents fortunate enough to provide it growing up. So\, I grew up with high john the conqueror/buck and the preacher/aug ust wilson plays/donald goines books/black poetry /brer rabbit/oscar miche aux before he became more popular or known - while I also heard peter and the wolf at Lincoln Center\, saw gaugin works\, and tapestries from muslim caliphates\, and devo videos. My point being I made the work wanting to a dd to black DOS literary canon\, a common theme for me\, I am not limited to that\, but I like it. One thing I would had chang ed is made it where tiana's father succeeded in making the restaurant and it being sucessful and the only black owned business on land in mythic new orleans of the early 1900s. I don't think it hurts Tiana by having her qu est to maintain the restaurant\, not initialize it.
