  1. Ignorance is no longer an excuse. For several decades now, black folks have had access to every aspect of American business. There's no shortage of black folks capable of representing black athletes and entertainers and teaching money management too. The hurdle is teaching black folks how to trust each other. Peeling the layers of that onion is no small feat. We do waste too much time on celebrity culture among other things.

  2. Abortion is a Women's Issue - Period. Men need to stay out of it. The most sickening part of the Abortion debate in the U.S. is the claim by White Conservatives and Evangelicals and many ill-informed and misogynist Black men that curbing this oft-used medical procedure will help the Black Community. Which is hogwash. If Conservatives and Evangelicals want to assist the Black Community, then treat and fund Black Community Healthcare in the same manner as their own communities. 1) Let Blacks vote without hesitation, the same way Whites can 2) Fund Women's HealthCare, from Gynecology, Pre-Natal, Pre-Birth, Post Birth, Pre-School and then actual Schooling. Do this with the same percentage of funding that is provided Whites and other ethnic groups. 3) Provide adequate money for Child Care, reasonable accommodations for the Disabled and those otherwise requiring assistance. 4) Teaching young men and young women proper Birth Control will help the Black Community. Again, this is a financing issue. 5) Make sure that Black Mental Health issues have adequate funding, support and resources. This is just a start.

  6. I don't care how many classes, seminars or free food becomes available to lure folks into patched up Crypto snake oil tents. The future of Crypto is about as murky as the chances of Putin conquering Ukraine and rest of former Warsaw Pact nations without the use of nuclear weapons or having Klingons and Romulans as allies. Or Global Warming suddenly disappearing because the Right Wing wants to continue ignoring it. Crypto markets have been heading south for weeks and it's clear now that the demand for NFT's has crashed so badly, you can barely find it in the basement. Ah, but don't take it from me: The NFT market is, shall we say ... in free fall?

  7. This is likely because many do not know how. It is intellectually dishonest to point to one, two or even a small group of Black professional entertainers, athletes and others who are either saavy or popular enough to make their own demands stick. Talented elites from the Black Community are still viewed as anachronisms by most in the U.S. There is much being made of Angela Bassett earning between $450,000 to $500,000 per episode on her hit TV series "911." But scores of White actors have already pulled down $1 million of more for each episode on their shows. We're poor catcj-ups. And how long does a professional Black Athlete remain healthy and super productive? It's certainly not forever. And put aside their physicality for a moment. What about all the psychological and racist minefields they must negotiate or tip toe through during their career? It helps to have a media/legal and financial consultant or adviser one can call on. Blacks waste an inordinate amount of time, effort and emotion following the travails of celebrities or the famous. It may be fun to speculate about sports stars, entertainers and the moneyed. But unless you're a pundit, you're not being paid for it.

  8. Absolutely. I think it's abominable that black athletes and entertainers pay agents a percentage of their negotiated contract instead of paying them a flat fee. If the sports team or movie industry or fashion industry wants a person bad enough, they're already willing to pay them. Just pay a lawyer to make sure the paperwork is straight. A popular NFL sports agent has grossed a billion dollars. Ironically, he went to school to become a lawyer but found a gold mine as a sports agent representing black athletes starting in the late 1980s. Former NBA basketball player Grant Hill and his dad former NFL football player Calvin Hill did it right. They negotiated his contracts. Unfortunately, many black athletes chose not to follow his lead.

  9. Sure. The trickle down effect of their laws and initiatives will always have a worse impact on Black people and other disenfranchised groups. As black folks, we need to be even more vigilant in holding ourselves and each other accountable and be more responsible in our actions and reactions. Black folks cannot do everything they do and get away with it. We have to protect ourselves and our interests on all fronts.

  10. I too support free education as long as the students maintain 3.0 GPA Infact, they should offer all students free room, board, and give them a small allowance to take care of their clothing and daily needs...as long as they maintain a certain GPA. The costs of going to college far exceed tuition. You have to eat and have a place to stay and have money for books, stationary, lap tops, accessories and a host of other items not covered in the tuition. How many students can afford all of this while going to school full time? I'm hearing from a lot of younger people that not only do Universities charge high tution but even the community colleges charge extrodinarily high "lab fees" for those who take medical and science classes on top of their tuition rates. I've said it once and I'll continue to say it that college for the most part in America today is a well organized SCAM. Troy College should not be compulsory, but there should be quality free options available. The society and culture is FAR better off when the citizens are educated I agree that society is better off with an educated populous. However we don't need universities to accomplish this..... The knowledge of how to live a civil life can and should be taught in highschool (and at home). Infact, it WAS for the longest time in America until they took it out of the schools in the 60s. I'm sure Cynique could attest to the fact that HIGHSCHOOL students back in the 40s and 50s were better mannered and more professional and mature than COLLEGE GRADUATES today! Hell, most of the kids I run into who just graduated American universities can't even spell without spell-check, have sloppy hand writing, and can't even count the change they owe you back. Once the public educational system became intergrated, the powers that be decided to defund public education and let it go straight to hell.
