  1. An AfroAmerican hedge fund manager won the bid on that painting. IMO, it does represent progress to the extent that he could *afford* to be in the same room.

  2. @richardmurraydisagreement does not equate to misunderstanding. The USA is set up to have various levels of failure. Poor whites are having their own drug crisis. The real issue is always class, not race not sex. So divide and conquer is effective. Not certain how a P2P group is not a community. Most disagreement are a result of differing definitions, beliefs or assumptions. You believe Black people need leaders. I believe it's more effective to teach a person to fish. So they won't get hungry. Every society has a stratus. And it is usually a pyramid. You want to go back to a past model that has obvious flaws. I prefer the future. You will be more successful since people don't like change. Well forward thinking people like it. Based on the definition of community. The Black population is not a community. But they are treated or mistreated as a monolithic block. Unless they are a celebrity.

  3. The Anti-Abortion group says their next step is a federal ban on contraception and abortion. This move criminalizes women and will also stomp over the right to privacy. When I first began visiting this forum in 2010, there was a lot of talk about the fall of the Black community because unmarried Black women were having babies with multiple men. I noticed, too - no one put the onus on men. I'll never understand that perspective, mainly since men cause 100 percent of unwanted pregnancies. But let's say women lose the right to choose abortion. And any attempt to abort, a woman becomes a felon. Felons lose their rights to participate in society, especially in the political system. Black women are the most consistent voting block, but we're no match to combat voter obstruction. So, what's next? The government subjugates and returns black women to breeder status? Speculation aside, if black women lose their rights to exercise agency in this society, what's next for the Black community?

  4. You're not alone in harping on it. I'm sure folks have tired of me typing racism white supremacy on this forum too. But, l I'd rather call out racism white supremacy often enough that folks can never deny that it exists and/or they didn't know it was so bad and firmly entrenched. It's one thing to have a system in place that denies black folks equal access and the full protection of citizenship. When the system of racism white supremacy promotes ideologies sanctioning the slaughter of black folks it makes things even worse.

  5. There are some folks who just don't believe that White Supremacy is real and this intense hatred against Black people is getting worse. This young, racist shooter is said to have bought into the White Supremacist "Replacement Theory," espoused by Fox News' talk show host Tucker Carlson. But this nonsense didn't start with Carlson. It's been a long held doctrine of Far Right White Supremacists. Know what galls me? That some have the nerve to get ticked off at me because I continue harping on it. I am telling the truth.

  6. Being highly paid entertainers, hopefully, they will figure out how to turn their riches into wealth like the folks at the top of the list. Otherwise, white folks know it's good for business and perception to let a few non-whites have money without real wealth i.e. power.

  7. Just as we're discussing racism white supremacy this unfortunate tragedy in Buffalo, NY happens. Watch how differently the left and right wing media reports this domestic terrorism/ hate crime committed by an admitted white supremacist. I believe this is just the beginning of white folks slaughtering people of color fueled by white supremacist ideology.

  8. I didn't skip over anything sista @Mel Hopkins brilliantly articulated. Her salient points immediately led me to think about the rest of our *freedoms* these clowns will infringe upon if/when they're are successful in overturning one. This right-wing train has been barreling down the social tracks for a very long time. We've been able to see it coming from the election of 45 to SCOTUS nominations. Yet, while they had *power* the liberals never put any safeguards in place codifying these rights into law.

  9. @Mel Hopkins Anytime. I hope you find the time to write a book. You're an excellent writer and chronicler.

  10. There are actually 15 Black billionaires, according to Forbes. Most gained their fortunes through their personal talent and their uncanny ability to leverage this in a White-dominated world. Each year, Forbes compiles a list of the world’s billionaires using a snapshot of financial information such as the latest stock prices, exchange rates, assets and other data. Nine of these Black billionaires are Africa-American, according to Forbes. This includes the newest Black billionaire, Rhianna. I sincerely doubt you can connect each through commonality, such as savvy investments, ability to shop economically and the ubiquitous claim that the rich "know how to save money." I also doubt many of them buy into or continually endorse such risky investments such as unregulated Cryptocurrency markets. Now, if they were offered money to lie to the public in a commercial or an ad, then that's something else.

  11. "skipped over" maybe, but it's obvious you didn't stop! Thank you. Old-school Journalists never lose their skills! I can only imagine how your brain was working through the scenarios. People often think journalism is about telling other people's stories. And yes, on the surface abortion does seem like a woman's problem...But that is exactly what "Right Wing Wackos" want the electorate to believe. Journalists may start with a subject but that's just the beginning of any story. Thank you so much for the follow up!

  12. Because I was such a fast writer and editor, I used to walk into my top editors' offices and ask for more work. So, they assigned me to edit Corporate Bankruptcy stories. And man, did I learn a lot. In a Chapter 11 Bankruptcy, the debtor, or the bankrupt company, is protected from its creditors. They can't remove anything or sue the company for its assets. If the company keeps its assets, it's often referred to as a Debtor in Possession. But this is determined by a Chapter 11 judge. Normally, banks and other financial lenders are considered secured creditors. This means if the company's reorganization plan is later approved by a judge, these folks get paid first. They may not get all of their money back, but they will get something. Now, stockholders or other investors are unsecured creditors. The rank on the same bottom step as employees who are owed wages. These may also include companies that provided services, such as computer suppliers, utilities, transport companies and apparel. Usually what happens when there is not enough money left over after paying the lawyers and secured creditors is that unsecured creditors get pennies on the dollar even if they are collectively owed millions. If things go really bad for them, a former colleague f mine loved to write: They "are wiped out." They get nothing. This is why investors in Coinbase are considered unsecured creditors. Now you know why Donald Trump filed for Chapter 11 four times. He got away without paying his workers, his contractors, his rent, his furniture and fixture providers and these include all of his liquor suppliers. Unless they got pennies on the dollar. They were all unsecured creditors. By the way, a Chapter 7 is a liquidation. Which means the company that is bankrupt will either sell or auction off all of its assets, including lighting fixtures, to raise money. Companies that are going out of business will usually do this. Chapter 13 is for individuals who file bankruptcy to reorganize their debts. In case anyone is wondering is there are successful corporate reorganizations, there are scores of them every year. One of the most successful that I know is a company called Marvel Comics. Its comic book sales were doing so badly and the company kept borrowing to keep itself afloat that the financial situation became untenable. So, Marvel filed for Chapter 11. And its reorganization plan, which had to convince Marvel's secured creditors so it could emerge from Chapter 11 and be a profitable company, Marvel said it would use its many comic book characters, Spiderman, Iron Man, Thor, The Hulk, Dr. Strange, The Avengers, Black Panther and others and feature them in full length movies. The secured creditors bought into the plan. And we know what happened. Marvel made millions. So, there is light at the end of Chapter 11. You just got to have the right Reorganization Plan, the right lawyers and pick the right Bankruptcy Court, which are the same as Federal District Courts.

  13. @Mel Hopkins We men have this insane, but unique, ability to sidestep and ignore the dilemma and problems of being a woman. Mel Hopkins patiently explained that the loss of woman's Right to Choose what happens to her own body would entail. She mentioned the loss of privacy. Even I skipped over that and I apologize to Ms. Hopkins. The power of these Right Wing wackos to peer into our private lives and possibly all our communications is something none of us should discount. So, it does not matter how you may feel personally about a Woman's Right to Choose. But you should be completely mesmerized about the threat to your privacy. I hope Ms. Hopkins continues advising us about this. This is no joke, friends.

  15. Is this your belief? It’s not fact - but if this is your belief it does make your position clear to me. I don’t debate “beliefs.” I thought you were stating what you witnessed. And I didn’t see any empirical evidence. But now I understand the perspective is more nostalgic “Make Black America Great Again.” Although I I have more in common with iconoclast. I don’t have a strategy. I observe what is and analyze migration and the structure of movement. A movement doesn’t care about what you believe or how you feel about it - but it will run you over if you don’t adapt.

  16. @Stefan just for the record, I didn't share this as someone who is personally invested in any crypto. I just know people who are and I know people in this community who are. so I shared. but I want it known I am not an investor in crypto and I have offline spoken against crypto to my friends, some of whom are deeply involved. I don't share cause I always concur or agree with. I share Black cause the black community is internally multiracial and I want all of the races in the Black community to grow. @Troy I concur to your point about crypto not being for the general populace. But I use more statistics. During the sars -cov-2 the white man admitted that circa 70% of children in the poor sections of los angeles didn't have internet for the online school thing. A similar number the white man stated for the entire continent of africa, which the white man also states has the quickest growing quantity of under twenties in humanity. The internet, all the financial management schemes touted all the time, are clearly not for the general populous in the usa or on earth with such numbers. @ProfDyes, the greatest lesson in monopoly is what happens when a player has a little money , owns no lands, and all lands are sold, and is still playing:) In defense, ever since the dutch started their stock market, the white community has always created radical financial markets to sucker those who think they can get lucky. The slot machine is a well known device by know and yet, still does a lot of damage to personal accounts. Fiscally wealthy whites comprehend all others, including poor whites, will always have many who will gamble even knowing the odds is bad, crypto is merely one of many. Why do people keep playing monopoly when they are clearly finished:) @Delano truth. but, people will always risk cause the truth is, .001 percent risk and win, that is the genius of stock markets, card tables at macau, crypto, many people know, if you are not willing to kill somebody for their wealth or enslave somebody for their labor, then absent those sturdier schemes to get rich quick, you have to gamble to get quick and ...

  17. Brace yourselves for a series "our thoughts and prayers" statements. Another young White dude, imbued with White Supremacist ideology, allegedly just shot up a Buffalo, N.Y., supermarket, killing 10 people. Apparently, the suspect is just 18, allegedly. According to authorities, the assailant is said to hit 13 individuals, 11 of whom are Black. He is also believed to have drove for hours to get to this supermarket, in a mostly Black neighborhood. I won't post a link. Since the situation is fluid and a lot more I am certain will be revealed. But pay attention to this: What charges will this guy be hit with? Because I predicted that the Black subway shooter would be charged with federal terrorism charges. And I was right. I am curious if people like this accused shooter is part of a loose affiliation of White Supremacist terrorists, who are connected though the Internet or Dark Web. If this is true, they may be assigning and choosing their targets unhindered.

  18. Sure. The trickle down effect of their laws and initiatives will always have a worse impact on Black people and other disenfranchised groups. As black folks, we need to be even more vigilant in holding ourselves and each other accountable and be more responsible in our actions and reactions. Black folks cannot do everything they do and get away with it. We have to protect ourselves and our interests on all fronts.

  19. Thank You for responding. I can see how it may attempt to solve the white nationalists’ numbers problem. But, I’m Black woman. Therefore, I look at the harmful effects of any legislative proposal and how it can impact the future of the Black community. I don’t care about the white nationalist movement and their desires. I do care about Black people and other disenfranchised groups. We are always hammered by their laws and initiatives. For example, Nixon earmarked funds for the Medicaid program to sterilize Black and Brown women back in the 70s. There was a whole program to sterilize women in Puerto Rico that still some say still haunts them to this day. Yes, I’m sure that was a numbers game then too. But those women didn’t get a pass. I agree, It is important to peep their game but it’s even more important to prepare the community.
