  1. “We Real Cool” by Gwendolyn Brooks The Pool Players Seven at the Golden Shovel We real cool. We Left school. We Lurk late. We Strike straight. We Sing sin. We Thin gin. We Jazz June. We Die soon. I have not hopped on the "celebration" of banned books parade so many booksellers have. I feel like that is something I do every day. This is also why I don't feel the need to do something special for Black History Month. That would be redundant... Anywho, I understand this poem was banned for the sexual connotations associated with the line We Jazz June.

  2. Same here. I've been told the movie would make for a good date night idea. So, I'll round up and sponsor a woman who's willing to watch it with me.

  3. I see what you did there. IMO, there is no secret agenda. The system of racism white supremacy operates in plain view.

  5. I hope (and believe) this generation of boys can figure this out for themselves. Because too many generations in the past have brainwashed them into thinking they are good for nothing. Those who don't know their strengths aren't necessarily physical will always fail themselves, the Black community, and ultimately society. Custodial mothers, fathers, and even two-parent households who are wise enough to know what we don't know have reached out for help from those in the know. (not opinion-givers) And we have educated our children, especially boys, to know physical strength isn't enough in a society that requires intellect and problem-solving. Those children are our communities' success stories. Still, civilization requires Hypermasculinity coupled with hyperintellectuality in battle. And as history shows, it can occur in any sex when necessary and as needed. Sankofa. If you don't know your history, go back and retrieve it. Check out Nyabinghi. We, as a species, adapt to our environment for survival. It doesn't require anyone's approval. Those who don't adapt perish. The last woman Dahomey warrior died in 1979. According to historical records, Dahomey's army fought against colonization until 1892, that was about 200+ years of women and men fighting off European colonization. When the French colonized them, they made sure to subjugate women. Because subjugating women is an Anglo thing. Because - No Nation Can Rise Higher Than Its Women.

  6. Hey ya'll, as AALB.com enters its 25th year (I began working on the site in October of 1997 and launched the domain in March 1998), I'm doing a bit more than I usually do to promote the site and raise money for it. I'm planning an upgrade to the site which includes a refresh to the site's design and tech stack. This will be the first time anyone, other than myself has worked on the website. Having others to work on the site is long overdue, but building the site myself kept costs down, which is what has allowed me to keep the site afloat for so long, weathering many challenges. But doing all the work myself has also constrained growth and this is something I hope to remedy, with your help, over the course of the next year. Learn More and Get Your Raffle Here

  7. The white population both in America and in Europe is decreasing. This is one of the reasons why you see an uptick in racism, xenophobia, and a rise of far right-wing politicians such as Donald Trump in America, Victor Orban in Hungary, Andrzej Duda of Poland, and even to some extent Vladimir Putin of Russia. Gerrymandering and voter suppression laws reflect this anxiety as well. They are also upset over the embrace of globalism and the decline of Western Judeo-Christian values. I guess it really makes sense that they would feel some form of superiority and entitlement since Europeans and people of European descent have ruled the world going back further than colonialism but to the Roman and Greek Empires where Western Civilization began. It really started with Alexandria the Great rather than Christipher Columbus. But they are still winning in two areas. One of them is the judicial system both with the Supreme Court and lower federal courts. The 40 years between Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump have seen more justices put on the Supreme Court by Republican administrations than Democratic administrations. As a result, the Supreme Court has a 6 to 3 conservative majority. This affects social issues such as voting rights, abortion, climate change, and gay marriage. These Supreme Court justices are lifetime appointees. To show you how long a justice can be on the Supreme Court, just look at Clearance Thomas. He has been on the court since 1991. I think some of this is political strategic planning. By 2045 or 2050, America will be a minority-majority nation. At that time, the white population could dwindle down to the point where Republicans will not be able to be elected as President unless there is some kind of paradigm shift. In order to keep America from drifting into socialism or even Marxism, the judicial branch of the government will thwart the executive and legislative branches. Always remember that Roe V. Wade was overturned in a Democratic administration and a Democratic congress!! Gay marriage is definitely next. I don't care how much politicians try to deny it. If a nearly 50-year-old ruling can be overturned, surely a seven-year-old one can. Another area where white people will continue to thrive as a minority is in economics. This is where real power is. True power resides on Wall Street, not Washington DC. Will POCs (People of Color) be in control of major corporations such as Wal-Mart, am*zon, Exxon, GE, Telsa, Apple, and Target just to name a few? Most white Americans do not control these gigantic international financial institutions, including the founding families. They are control by banks, private equity firms, trusts, and hedge fund owners. In other words, the very "one percent." It is these people that have control over the political issues of both parties. The conservative fossil fuel oligarchs keep Texas Red the same way liberal Hollywood and Silicon Valley keep California Blue. I am not saying that people do not have control of their vote, but it is influenced more by big money than you realize. The reason why white colonizers controlled predominantly black sub-Shahara Africa is because they had the economic power. The same thing is true in Latin America. Even though mestizos (mixed Spanish and Indian people) consist of a majority in most countries south of the American border, it is the Criollo (Latin Americans of mostly European Spanish descent) oligarchs that control those nations. So, when mid-century arrives, POCs will be politically more in control than economically. Most of the wealth (not all) that black people produce is through music and sports. But this is not generational wealth. Generational wealth is money that is passed down from one generation after another such is the case with family fortunes until it becomes old money. Unless they are smart enough to become businessmen like Jay Z and 50 cent, most of these rappers, ballers, and actors usually go broke within the next few years after they spend their short-term wealth on houses, cars, drugs, and Instagram models. The money is not passed on to kids and grandkids. But, with that being said, there are some black generational wealth families

  8. Yeah, I hear you @frankster I think it is more of an attempt at increasing representation. That is the agenda. When we witness a group going from zero representation to any people start to lose their shit. When Black people when from zero right to some, white people lost their shit too. Adapting to change is even more difficult than providing equality for all people. The real question related to a secret agenda is the one alluded to by @Cynique and that is: who is the "they" Back folks often talk about? Many point to an evil cabal of Jewish puppet masters who control the world. Black folks are currently victims of the Illuminati, Rothschild, Rockefellers, and Bilgerbergs, pulling the strings behind the scenes. Wielding amazing levels of power, but seemingly too inept to keep their diabolical plans secret from the hip-hop community. Maybe there is a "they," but there is also an us. Are we going to work with ourselves or continue to wring our hands over the "they."

  9. Seriously man one could ignore everything else that came after this statement as it relates to the film. That would be false. Reread the applicable part of Mel's post then do some more research. No, it is not. In my mind, Hollywood, on the heels of the success of Black Panther, came up with another idea to rake in big bucks, Money is their sole motivation. Any other consequences are purely incidental. All of the nonsense about pussyfing Black men is just conspiracy theories run amuck. I liked the film Black Panther, but I wasn't feeling Black people running around embracing the "culture" of Wakanda. Some were even trying to visit Wakanda. This revealed how needy we are as a people for positive images and how unaware we are of actual Black accomplishments. I think Woman King will be superior to Black Panther in that it is based upon reality, and, I'd be willing to bet, it will be more entertaining. Given the lead actress, a sister who can act her way from housemaid and a warrior. I'm looking forward to seeing it on the big screen and I'm sure I'll emerge with my manhood intact. @ProfD gotchu.

  10. Ok the one that I notice and nobody seems to be talking about is the promotion of Homosexuality in Black Public Spaces, which may be a result or offshoot of the long standing agenda of the feminization of the Black Male. I say this because I notice a high number of Black Public personalities either are Gay or Play Gay characters.

  11. As i said at the beginning of my essay, i have divorced the black race. So none of the comments or opinions about its destiny really make a difference to me. i might add that i've never felt more liberated in my life. In the time i have left on this earth, I will revel in not giving a damn. I exhale. .
