    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TWO BLACK WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS ANNOUNCE A PARTNERSHIP, THE “NONFICTION AUTHOR’S INTENSIVE”, FOR BLACK BUSINESS MONTH

[Nashville, TN] — Two Black women entrepreneurs, Tia Lee, founder and CEO of T Time Foundation, Inc., and Elona Washington, founder of The Author's Journey, announced their partnership program, the Nonfiction Author’s Intensive, in honor of Black Business Month.

The virtual program is for authors who wrote a book to further their business or cause. Part One of the program teaches writing and publishing and Part Two covers marketing and publicity. At the conclusion, all participants will have the strategies needed to maximize their book’s income and brand’s impact.

A Nashville native, Tia Lee, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership program, stating, "The 2-Part Author Intensive is about more than publishing books; it's about empowering authors to become catalysts for change. The number of Black authors is increasing and through this collaboration, we aim to equip them with the tools to share their stories and expertise to foster positive societal transformation."

Elona Washington, who also serves as a member of Nashville’s VOICES Committee, added, “What I found working with authors is that their reason for publishing often goes far beyond the book. If they’ve healed, they’re encouraged to help others heal. If a life lesson is learned, they’re inspired to teach others. Unfortunately, the average self published author—of any race—only sells 250 books in their lifetime. This program is designed to support participants in surpassing the statistics."

Program Details and Enrollment: Writers interested in self publishing can enroll in the Wednesday night cohort and authors interested in a re-release strategy can enroll in the Thursday night cohort. The program is co-ed, welcoming participants nationwide and from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Apply here to join the Nonfiction Author’s Intensive.

  2. Everyone talks about the absent father but not too many in our culture discuss our toxic moms. There have been quite a few articles lately that discuss the generational trauma and disconnect between black mothers and daughters. As a survivor of child abuse, when I speak to other survivors, every woman in the room discusses how toxic their mother was.

It took some time, but I finally gained perspective about my mom and the stories I've been told. Hopefully, this book will help others begin to heal. The genre will be inspirational fiction and span from slavery to the current generation; I may include a future generation as well.

I've been outlining it over these last few months and will start writing next month. I'm going to the Legacy Museum in Montgomery, AL for inspiration. I'm so excited about this next book because I finally get to incorporate my African American Studies degree from Howard.

The spirit moved me so I designed the book cover this week.

  3. Who remembers being told black folk don't read or if you want to hide information from black people, put it in a book?

Lately, I found several articles that disprove those notions in addition to learning that the Pew Research Group stumbled upon the fact that college-educated black women read the most books.

And it made me wonder about black women's reading habits.

If you're an AA woman, please click on the link and take this 2-minute survey. When 100 respondents are recorded, everyone will be entered into a drawing for a $50 Target gift card. Thanks!!
