ProfD I give actors like Denzel more of a pass for playing "bad guy" roles because it's CLEARLY understood that he's acting. In other words, he doesn't come on the screen and says "this is an account of my life and what I saw and did growing up" before the movie starts. I don't like it when TOO MANY Black people play the "bad guy" roles but I see it as a bit different. When it comes to Hiphop though...... These dudes are pretty much making it clear that this is what they've either done or seen growing up in thier community and they make it seem much more like real life. Ofcourse they too use poetic license. Ice Cube didn't grow up in the hood and was never a gangster.....he was just good at rapping about it. But many if not most Gangsta and Trap rap artists have and do.

People are already busy enough ....now they gotta STOP and take time to.....-hmmm.... figure out what some idiot or schizophrenic "reeeeaaally" means when he/she babbles on the keyboard. -Hey, snow turns green and catches fire as soon as it makes contact with the sidewalk! ProfD One of my criticisms of Obama was that despite his intelligence and articulation he didn't seem to know how to talk to the average person Black or White. He's so smart and academic and like most highly educated people, he makes the mistake of assuming everyone can or should understand the points he's trying to make. He underestimates how STUPID the average American is....lol. But the Republicans DON'T. They KNOW a large (and growing) percentage of Americans are STUPID and gullible and all they have to do is tell a lie bold enough for long enough and they'll believe it. They know how to talk plainly and reach the masses of their TARGET audience.....poor White folks. Say what you want about Trump but when he gives a speech you know EXACTLY what he's saying and what he means when he says it, even if it's a straight up lie. There is little CONFUSION over what Trump is saying and means, even if you don't believe it.

ProfD Well that would lead to another question...lol. Does anyone CARE what Cynique's opinion is??? Well, yeah fear is a factor. However I believe the main reason is that Black people collectively simply just weren't smart enough to come up with one. Like I asked before, what's stopping us from coming up with one NOW? Even in Africa today there are vast areas where White men or no other race except our people have been. What's stopping them from coming up with weapons and defense systems to protect and defend themselves from racial aggression? Perhaps they have and are and we just don't know it...yet. However like Wakanda...if they DO exist we certainly could use their help now. I agree. Most Black people who are violent aren't that way by nature but by circumstance. However when it comes to the intelligence factor, I'm not sure if that's entirely the fault of White racists. I'm more inclined to believe that many of our people were naturally less intelligent and evil White folks saw it and took advantage of it.

The terrorists that Black and poor citizens of the United States need to be most concerned about is the REPUBLICAN PARTY. Islamic extremists may pose a threat to those in various parts of the Middle East and Africa, but here in the United States it's these right-wingers who are primarily responsible for keeping up chaos and dysfunction in both the political and legal systems as well as in law enforcement, schools, etc...

Bush proved that over and over again. ProfD Facts Now... The question I would have is why haven't WE developed a defense system even more powerful? I think I know the answer, although you probably wont accept it..lol. Although I maintain...though many find it offensive...that LOW INTELLIGENCE is the MAIN reason so many of our people are where they are today regardless of the historical factors. With the mentality so many of our people exhibit today, even if slavery never happened they would be a walking text-book of dysfunction. To prove my point, right after slavery during Reconstruction most Black folks had solid families, work skills, and were building and maintaining cities. We maintained much of these skills until about the 1960s and after so-called "Integration" things started going downhill. So slavery in and of itself couldn't have been the only factor and probably wasn't the major factor in the condition of Black people today

Most biblical scholars KNOW that most of the Bible isn't historical fact, but multiple allegories tied together and presented as a solid book. The girl's focus is on SOLOMON. No, that's not what I'm saying. The Old Testament actually mentions skin color quite a bit when it speaks of what is translated as "Leprosy" in the Old Testmant. A condition that turns the skin very white and in some cases scaley. Many Caucasians (as they still do today) suffer from this disease. Most White people don't have "lily white" skin so that's not saying much. Hell, there are plenty of White folks (Caucasian is a better term) whose skin has BROWNED for one reason or another. Especially those who live in climates with a lot of sun like Florida or the Middle East. All they have to do is raise their shirt up and you'll see a reddish white skin under there. I didn't comment with the intent to offend you or insult your beliefs, but to offer information you probably weren't aware of in the hopes that it may change your mind ABOUT your beliefs. Because that's what changed me....more information (facts especially) that made me question and eventually change how I viewed the Bible and religion in general.

ProfD Despite the passion and grittiness so many grassroots supporters of the Democrat party show....the lack of resistance and fighting shown by the Democrat LEADERSHIP shows me that they are in cahoots with the Republicans. They are just "Republican light" or a FAKE opposition party designed to trick people into thinking the right-wing agenda has actual resistance to it when infact, they are both working on the same team. A good example is this so-called "Obamacare" or the Affordable Care Act. This was originally a REPUBLICAN PLAN...tying healthcare to the markets. It was first enacted by Mitt Romney and the Republicans supported it because it made the insurance companies richer. Next thing you know OBAMA is embracing the shit and promoting it as some sort of grand benefit when it really forces you to give more of your money to these rich insurance companies and penalizes if you fail to cooperate with it.

Check out his song: "Down Fa Mine" Man, I remember back in the early 90s I was trying to get his latest album Made In America and I was running in and out of records shops in Detroit asking about him and for a while none of them had his tapes! I finally found one who carried it. It was almost 30 years ago but I STILL remember the scene....lol. There were two bruthaz standing behind the counter staring at me as I came in. I asked did they carry Kam's latest album Made In America. One of them said "Who????" The other said, "Ah nigga you know.....Ice Cube's little boy" He went in the back and got it. Then I almost got into an argument with one of them over criticizing how so few Black record stores carried Kam's material as talented as he was. But the brother is one of the most underrated rappers of the 90s. Powerful lyrics and beats to go with it. I'm CONVINCED his positivity and promotion of the Nation of Islam are the main reasons the music executives did their best to keep his work out of circulation.

This is good news. Not much I can say in terms of criticism of this because the Feds didn't HAVE to get involved despite the pressure the community was putting on them. Perhaps this is an example of how....although I still believe the system is corrupt and needs to be replaced....it CAN work in our favor if we have the will power and persistnce to force it to.

After mentioning them in a post to Troy in another thread, I felt compelled to produce THIS thread in commemoration of my Parents. The SUPREME BEING is my absolute Best Friend, however.... Among human beings, my Parents (so far until someone else comes along who treats me better) were my BEST friends! I didn't realize this until not only after I became an adult but after they passed away. This thread may seem a little selfish or self-centered, so does anyone else feel the same way about their parents or atleast A parent?

Delano Lol... Yeah, "deep" to someone who gets high a lot. Troy And what YOU and Mr. Brown seem to fail to understand is that in some cases "illegitimacy" is a CAUSE of poverty. Many of our cousins who only had their mothers grew up poor but we didn't and a major reason for that is because our parents stayed married, combined their incomes, and eventually moved us out of the city when we got older. Many of our cousins whose fathers had left them not only stayed in the city but turned to selling and using dope and going in and out of jail. Having two parents wasn't the ONLY factor in this but it was a major one because many didn't have fathers to not only contribute that extra income but to discipline them. There are many causes of poverty from racism to substance abuse to broken families. We're (me and the White man....lol) are saying that broken families is just ONE factor. Atleast in SOME cases...remove that factor and you solve the problem of poverty. True. But what does it say about a man who just drops by every now and then or doesn't COMMIT to the mother of his child or even the child him/herself??? Does mean he's a bad man or poor provider? No. But it COULD mean that. Also, it could mean he's immature, can't be counted on, and is ready to leave and abandon them at the drop of a hat....like so many do. Although marriage is no guarantee. One of the draws of the Nation of Islam is that it's full of ex-criminals, ex-gangsters, ex-prisoners, ex-drug users who'd been down that road before and knew how to reach those who are still in that lifestyle. They'll listen to them because they can relate to them. But unless we want an "over coming society" that revolves around people who fuck themselves up in the hopes of redemption later, then at what point do we set out to END the dysfunction period? That's certainly how it started off. However one of the problems that I saw even back in the 90s....was that many of the same so-called "conscious" and "positive" artists who claimed they were using their lyrics to reach the downtrodden gangsters still in the ghetto, relate to them, and wake them up also seemed to be PROMOTING the very lifestyle they were criticizing as a problem. Yet again, I'll use one of my favorite rappers as an example: Ice Cube He'd talk about Black unity and stop the violence in one song, then brag about gang banging, selling dope, and robbing people in another! Groups like Public Enemy and X-clan kept it thorough and preached almost 100% positivity; however many of the others talked positivity and unity but sent mixed messages with their gangster laced rhymes. We don't need that type of CONFUSION going on. Either being a gangster and criminal is NOT cool and we shouldn't promote it....or it IS and we should embrace it. But this cognitive dissonance so many of our people have embraced has got to stop if we want to quicker progress.

Not sure about Russian law but her "guilty plea" was a bit deceptive to those not familiar with law in general. An admission of guilt doesn't always mean you acknowledge you did something WRONG. It's an acknowledgement that you did something that was ILLEGAL.....but perhaps you didn't know it was illegal at the time you did it. For her to plead innocent MAY have gotten her in more trouble because that would have been saying she DIDN'T do what she obviously did regardless of her intent behind it.

Stefan This is true. Hispanic refer strictly to those who are from or have immediate ancestors from SPANISH SPEAKING nations in the Americas. Like Mexico, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, etc.... While Latino refers to anyone who is from or has immediate ancestors from Latin America in general....NOT JUST Spanish speaking nations. Chiefly Brazil and Haiti. So Brazilians are Latinos but not Hispanic. Haitians too are Latinos but not Hispanic.

I don't care if the article supports or refutes what I said, the assertion of the TITLE was wrong...period....and that was what I was addressing. Genius doesn't equate to pattern recognition.
