The book shows us how a young, gifted athlete's life spiraled out of control under the glare of money and fame.

Michael dives deep into every aspect of his life, including family, faith and football. He shares never-before-told details about his youth, career, conviction, imprisonment and his return to the NFL.

The book also tells the story of redemption. How a broken man sought and received forgiveness for his wrongs, was shown grace by the most unlikely people and had a fairy tale-like NFL season for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2010.

Vick's autobiography was written with Charles Chandler and Brett Honeycutt. Charles is an award-winning reporter and former Pro Football Hall of Fame selection committee member who covered the Carolina Panthers and the NFL for The Charlotte Observer, and who has written two other books, co-authoring Year of the Cat (1997, Simon & Schuster), and Quotable Petty (2002, Towlehouse Publishing). Brett is the Managing Editor of Sports Spectrum, an award-winning magazine, and veteran writer with The Charlotte Observer for 10 years prior.

"The agreement to write the book came before the 2010 season when Michael was slotted to be a backup," said a spokesman for The Core Media Group, the publisher of Michael Vick: Finally Free. "He knew some parts of his book would show his life at rock bottom, but he wanted to share his story to help others, both youths and adults. Michael also wanted to take the chance to apologize, once again, for getting involved in fighting dogs and explain how his relationship with God was renewed during his time behind bars."
