Migrants will put enormous economic and social strain on Blacks

Recommended Posts

As thousands of migrants prepare to storm the country's southern border, they will definitely vie for scarce housing, medical and educational resources with Black Americans. To believe otherwise is foolish.

Shelters, even emergency ones, are already jam packed, New York City and Chicago's Mayors said. So, millions will be spent housing migrants in hotels. In New York, city workers are being asked to work overtime and special pay has been earmarked for those who speak Spanish.

Despite contending with two recent horrible mass shootings, Texas Governor Gregg Abbott just cannot stop attacking Latino migrants. Neither can Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

“The cartels are working in collaboration with President [Joe] Biden and the federal government to facilitate that illegal cross-border,” Abbott
said. “We are being overrun by our own federal government. Texas is being undermined by our own federal government in our efforts to secure our border.”  ( https://newrepublic.com/post/172543/greg-abbott-demonizes-migrants-first-address-since-tragedies-texas )

Nice. He attacks the sitting U.S. President. I guess he wants the migrants machine gunned.

But DeSantis won't let Abbott steal all the anti-migrant spotlight, which brought a sharp rebuke from Mexico's leader.

“Why does [DeSantis] have to take advantage of people’s pain, of migrants’ pain, of people’s need for political gain,” Mexico President Andrés Manuel López Obrador asked at a Monday press conference. “This is immoral. This is politicking.”

The measure will guarantee $12 million to fly migrants from Texas to Martha's Vineyard, according to Politico.

“Now I found out that the Florida governor — imagine, Florida, which is full of migrants — is taking repressive, inhumane measures against migrants in Florida because he wants to be a candidate,” López Obrador said. “Can’t he not make another proposal to convince people?”

Caught in the middle are Black Americans - with no choice but to accept cuts to municipal budgets for local mental illness, law enforcement, medical and education programs as funding is switched to help migrants.

It's why Jordan Neely, the Black homeless and emotionally troubled NYC subway Michael Jackson imitator and performer, was choked to death by a White former Marine. Neely was clearly in need of mental help - but never got it.

  • Stefan changed the title to Migrants will put enormous economic and social strain on Blacks

It is no secret that America is being flooded with immigrants to further marginalize AfroAmericans.

The real question is what are Black elected leaders going to do about it.  The answer is obvious starting with the Vice POTUS.😎

Wow! This seems to becoming the norm.

Most of the public schools that were once predominantly Black in my area are now predominantly latino and/or hispanic kids.

I don't think migrants will hurt black people if the situation can be better controlled.  But the Republican Right has no incentive to govern and work with the President to do that. They thrive politically on portraying them the enemy the same way they do us.

Ultimately if we're going to control immigration and solve the border crisis America  needs to focus more attention on Latin America than the Pacific or the Middle East. By working with Latin American governments to make those countries more liveable and prosperous not everyone will be compelled to immigrate here.

American elites are hell bent on keeping all working people down at home and maintaining White Supremecy. Abroad they are determined stop China from rising and meddle in the Islamic world. Meanwhile things are falling apart in Latin America and the humanitarian crisis is spilling over our border.

Scarcity is a false notion used to drum up fear and panic....Hence the will not be taking or vying for any resources that  Blacks Americans Need

The Net result of Immigrants is Good for all concern,

Ofcourse immigrants will put an enormous economic strain on AfroAmericans as a community.

.....not necessarily all Blacks because Africans and Caribbeans will still thrive because of their ethics and cultural codes.

However most of the fault of this economic strain lays at the feet of AfroAmericans themselves and I'll give you two major reasons:

1. The AfroAmerican community is married to the Democrat party, but have little control over it and it's policies and agendas.
Right now the Democrats have been designated as the "pro immigration" party....atleast publicly because the Republicans are pro-immigration also but don't admit to it in public.  So most AfroAmerican Democrats are forced to vote against SOME of their own interests by supporting a party that undermines their economic and social interests.

2. AfroAmericans have been in this nation long enough to have established such a strong and resilient economic and political base that NO immigrant would come close to being a threat to us economically, politically, socially, or otherwise.
Part of the reason these immigrants put a strain on AfroAmericans is because we're often competing for the same "bottom of the barrel" resources that were designed to assist the destitute and downtrodden.  Not well established wealthy citizens.

Medicaid, food stamps, low wage service jobs.....AfroAmericans as a community should be BEYOND that stage by now.
Not only should we as a community have top notch health insurance but we should have our own hopsitals.....not fighting with Mexicans over beds in raggedy inner city hospitals.
Not only should we have our own businesses where we no longer have to compete with recently arrived immigrants, but we should have skyscrapers and mega-plexes lining the freeways and avenues of most major cities in this nation by now!

At the time they should be retired.... too many are stumbling into Burger King and Target with a head full of grey hair and half their teeth missing begging for entry level jobs and being turned down because some 19 year old illegal immigrant is willing to work twice as fast and twice as hard for the same money.

@KENNETH

The influx of migrants has definitely affected Black people in New York City. I doubt you live there.

Did you read this line from my thread starter?

Migrants do not make decisions of what municipal budget items will be fully funded and which ones won't be.  It is clear from all the publicized incidents involving the homeless and mentally ill, that New York City simply lacks the funds to follow through the needs of all its residents.

This is NOT the fault of Black politicians on the Dem side who have been clamoring for more funding from the Biden administration to take care of migrants. It is because the Biden administration must still defend this country from external threats such as Russia and China, while forking over $30 billion a year to Israel. I can just imagine what $30 billion a year could do for New York City.

But no matter how badly Biden wants to help migrants, the majority of Republicans will oppose his measures. As it is, the GOP is demanding massive spending cuts to approve a debt limit increase which occurred three times under Trump.

There simply is no extra money. The Biden administration was spending $60 billion a week to shelter unaccompanied minors and this was back in April.  Biden admin spent $60B to house unaccompanied minor migrants

No I don't live in NYC that's true. But if no more immigrants or refugees came after tomorrow for let's say a decade. Blacks in that city and urban areas across the country would be struggling with discrimination, lack of public investment, and poverty. Immigrants don't necessarily make it any worse. In fact they tend to work and later start businesses.

Black people wrongly believe in representation and passivity in dealing with Democrats politically. Imagine if we would take to the streets around economic and social conditions the same way we approach police violence things would have to change. If we would put in place truly Liberal and Progressive Left politicians not Moderate Center Right Democrats like Eric Addams or others things would change. Instead when they can't fix problems it's easy to scapegoat immigrants and refugees.

This is very true.👏🏿

Black folks should be demanding a LOT more from Democrats instead of allowing them to 1) pander during election time and 2) deliver nothing when they' have power.

However, the first thing Black folks need to do is come up with a real agenda i.e special interests to which politicians can be held accountable.  Believing politicians are going to solve problems within the Black community has been an Achilles Heel.

The Vice POTUS was supposed to be getting involved in the border crisis situation. Mainly to help countries solve the problems causing their citizens to leave.  She seems to have disappeared from that effort.

Meanwhile, Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, that poor fella is floundering around like a fish out of water in trying to provide answers to the border crisis.  The GOP led congress is two minutes away from trying to impeach him.

Neither political party gives a d8mn about Black people.  But, if Black folks are going to religiously follow Democrats, they should demand to get something in return. Even a trick expects to get paid.😎
