Hi, it's Kola Boof.

What a wonderful new set up you all have here. :)

In the next few days, I intend to post my new videos

at least.

TONIGHT, I'm just posting a link to the "audio" of me

singing the song "The Beautiful Ones Are Not Yet Born."

**AUDIO/LISTEN: http://bit.ly/bmnVad

**The VIDEOS are coming in a few days.

By this Wednesday, March 3rd (my birthday)...the editor has

promised to have them up.

"KOLA BOOF SINGING PERFORMANCE" is a video showing quite a

lot of footage of me preparing for my "comeback."

"NAKED AT THE FEAST" is a "tit" spectacular for the men...but

deeper than that, it's my attempt to chronicle the history of Nilotic

women going topless (why this is SO culturally important for African

women and what it represents in its cultural context)...and why I decided

to make my upcoming Poetry Collection ("I Am the Future--Africa Girl Poems")

my FINAL topless book cover.

When I go on tour this summer--I will be singing "TWO" Theme songs.

"The Beautiful Ones Are Not Yet Born" (posted) and the song I sang a few

years ago at the Schomburg Center..."My Breasts Are Filled With Milk and Honey."

I feel it's important to bring these ancient "Black Women" songs to America

and begin to imbed the 'sustenance' of their meaning into THIS culture.

I will post the VIDEOS on this same Thread as soon as they're ready.

So many people from AALBC.COM continue to email me and have befriended me

on TWITTER. :) I thank you for your kindness and belief in me. I am more

grateful than you could ever know.

Guest FINALLY VIDEO UP

THIS is Kola Boof.

My video "Kola Boof Singing Performance" was finally posted

last night, my 41st birthday.

http://www.youtube.com/watch#!videos=rnOh2uI9UI4&v=Cf2-IbuyYzQ

There are still some glitches they need to fix (like the huge lettering over

the photos at the end), but this is overall the video.

Again, I am NOT going to be a singer. But I will be incorporating singing

into my BOOK TOUR this year in support of "Virgins In the Beehive."

Thanks to everyone at AALBC.COM for your emails regarding the song itself. :)

Your kindness and good wishes mean so much to me.

The Beautyful Ones Are Not Yet Born is Ayi Kwei Armah’s first novel. You should come up with your own titles.

_______________________

Correction.

"The Beautiful Ones Are Not Yet Born" is a 5,000 year old song sung by African mothers,

a lullaby.

You should have checked that.

Ms. Boof sings it spectacularly.

Armah beat you to it by several decades, Kola.

"GO TELL IT ON THE MOUNTAIN" was a negro spiritual that became

a novel by James Baldwin.

"The Beautiful Ones Are Not Yet Born" is an ancient African SONG

that Armah titled his novel after.

Kola Boof or any people don't have to stop singing that song just

because somebody titled a book after the song.

Ms. Boof didn't write the song. She is merely singing it. The song is

5,000 years old.

Question:

How did Miriam Makeba record "The Beautiful Ones Are Not Yet Born" in

the 1950's if it's only a novel?

KanyeShrug

Kola jazzed it up for today's sound and her version is the best.

I heard Kola perform this "live" the other day on the radio and I can't

wait to hear her perform it on her book tour.

She sings really well.

How did Miriam Makeba record "The Beautiful Ones Are Not Yet Born" in

the 1950's if it's only a novel?

Makeba's first album was released in 1960 -- without your apocryphal song.

You borrow the titles of other people's work for most everything you do. That's a cheap gimmick, like Tracy Chevalier calling her novel Girl with a Pearl Earring.

Writers like to say that mediocre writers borrow, while great writers steal. Here's an illustration of that idea. Shakespeare didn't write a half-baked story and call it Pyramus and Thisbe to trade on the reputation of the famous folk tale preserved by Ovid. No, he stole the basic idea of the story itself, told it in his own inimitable voice, and called it Romeo and Juliet. When you merely borrow something, it's never yours. When you steal something, you literally make it your own.

It takes zero creativity to copy the title of a successful work. But it got Chevalier published and got her movie rights sold, so I can see why people do it.

One of the most interesting things about you, Kola, is that you write most of your fiction online, posting it piecemeal across hundreds of Web sites: Thumper's Corner, YouTube, Twitter, Amazon, etc. You seem to put more effort into telling stories about yourself and your work than you put into the work itself. You're not so much a writer as a performance artist.

But you really shouldn't trade on Armah, or Osama, or anyone else. Be your own true self.

Tried to make it display larger but couldn't. Right-click on the image and open it in a new window to see it full-size.

LOL! :)

Really tripping off you calling me "Kola."

Your hatred for her is what's entertaining. You also seem a bit obsessed.

Plenty of African historians, and btw Africans themselves, know that the song titled

"The Beautiful Ones Are Not Yet Born" is an ancient lullaby. It wasn't created by

Kola Boof, not the song or the title, duh! It also didn't start as a novel anymore

than James Baldwin's novel "Go Tell It On the Mountain", which was also a song long

before he used that for a book.

You also lied about Kola Boof's books being stolen titles. No other work anywhere is

titled "Long Train To the Redeeming Sin" or "Nile River Woman" or "Virgins In the Beehive."

It's clear that Ms. Boof invented those titles because only her books carry them.

She explained her love for silent films and why she named "Flesh and the Devil" and "Diary

of a Lost Girl" after silent films.

The good thing is that you are driving viewers to watch Kola Boof's wonderful new video!!

Guest Love Brazil

Miriam Makeba did in fact record "The Beautiful Ones Are Not Yet Born"

in the 1960's.

So did Harry Belafonte and a bunch of bossa nova singers. The song

is well known in Jamaica and Brazil too FYI.

Kola Boof sang it best of all and the images in her video, including herself, are

breathtaking. I look forward to her book tour.

No other work anywhere is titled "Long Train To the Redeeming Sin"....

But there is one titled The Redeeming Sin. You are not the only silent film buff, Kola. :)

I do not hate you, Kola. I find you fascinating and entertaining and tragic. Feel free to use that as a blurb on Virgins in the Beehive, if you ever publish it.

I picked up a used copy of Diary after I started reading Thumper's Corner, and was tickled to see you had inscribed it to someone who is a member here. The book is utterly amazing. Crazy, absurd stories about you ordering lion cub in restaurants; you and Osama reaching orgasm simultaneously; and Osama poisoning the unborn baby the two of you conceived. And completely incongruously, interspersed in the craziness, there is thought-provoking commentary about what it means for blacks to intermarry and have mixed-race children. The fact that you have successfully published and marketed such a book on your own is a wonder, and the forest of lies that you have planted to make that happen is astounding. I think everybody should buy a Kola Boof book, if only to be able to say that they were in on one of the weirdest stories in American publishing.

You are a highly intelligent, passionate, relentlessly determined person who is also clearly in thrall to a deep compulsion to tell lies. This particular conversion we are having is one I have seen over and over again in Thumper's Corner: you tell a pointlessly fake story, somebody calls B.S., and you go into the sock-puppet defense. I recognize how hard it must be for you to have trapped yourself in a public identity that does not allow you a public life, and requires new lies every day to maintain. Live long, sell lots of books, and find relief from your pain, Kola Boof.
