It's not true.... Nothing happened......

Recommended Posts

Well, bro Troy, your boy Herman Cain appears to be lying......again. A woman in Georgia, Ginger White, accused Cain of a 13 month affair. I saw Cain being interviewed by Wolf Blitzer yesterday and he categorically denied the affair. He said she was an friend/acquaintance he tried to help get a job. Cain said there was no affair, no sex and any accusations of infidelity was a lie. Well, the woman said she stopped having sex with Cain 8 months ago (when he begain his campaign) and produced private cell phone records and texting (61) from the past four months. The investigators texted the number she gave them and Cain replied! Hmmmmmm..... Now, the ugly part is while Cain was vehemently denying the relationship, his lawyer Lin Wood, issued a statement before Cain was interviewed that stated, "Rather, this appears to be an accusation of private, alleged consensual conduct between adults – a subject matter which is not a proper subject of inquiry by the media or the public. No individual, whether a private citizen, a candidate for public office or a public official, should be questioned about his or her private sexual life. The public’s right to know and the media’s right to report has boundaries and most certainly those boundaries end outside of one’s bedroom door". WTF?? Now, to me, this sounds like something happened because if it did not -why would Wood suggest if it did happen, it's no ones business? I agree with his lawyers statement but his defense of Cain is far from suggesting the affair did not happen. In fact, Wood's defense is that it's no ones business and the press should back off since this was a consensual private matter. Sorry Troy -that is not the same as denying or dismissing the allegation as false (as Cain did). It's very clear that Cain and his lawyer are giving two different spins. One states it never happend and the other states it's no ones business since it was a private consentual matter. Which is it? OK, your turn, defend him and clear the murky waters......

Xeon! I missed you.

Logically, stating that it "never happened" and that "It's no one's business" are not mutually exclusive statements. Both can be true. Thus dispatching your argument with little effort.

But this situation does beg a couple of questions not just for Cain (who at this point is not a serious contender), but for anyone. Does it really matter what two consenting adults do behind closed doors?

Where do we draw the line draw the line on what is acceptable? Cheating on a spouse, going to a strip club, getting a hand job at a massage parlor, engaging in homosexual sex, a single person engaging in sex when they are not married, masturbation.

There are people you have a problem with all of the above and other who have a problem with none of it and everything in between, Who decides who is the standard bearer of proper behavior?

Even if we had answers to all of the above, does it really matter in terms of one's job performance? If so why?

Is it really the media's role to dig up and circulate gossip, rumors and unproven accusations? If we all believed that Cain, affair was a factor on his ability to govern, the media still should not report it until it was something could prove.

Besides even if Cain did have the affair how does that make in any different, or less potentially effective than Dr. King or Presidents Kennedy, or Clinton?

Herman Cain is certainly in good company when it comes to being a lying, lecher. But he's out of his league when it comes to being intellectually-equipped to deal with global affairs. By being a dumb womanizer, he embodies the worst of George Bush and Bill Clinton.

It never seems to register with politicians that when you run for the highest office in the land, your dirty laundry will be exposed, and revealing yourself to be a hypocritical liar damages your credibility.
