What is Afrofuturism?

Troy

Recommended Posts

Afrofuturists are black entertainers, musicians, filmmakers, authors, artists and intellectuals who aim to break down racial barriers by designing science-fiction futures where oppression is optional or nonexistent. Rooted in academia, the Afrofuturism movement began among groups of college students gathered on the lawns of historically black institutions, and then later in internet groups who drew parallels between will.i.am and Sun Ra, America’s black Diaspora and fictional stories of alien abductions, activism and Octavia Butler.
