Salinger, the author of Catcher in the Rye had died at 91, http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100128/ap_en_ot/us_obit_. I read Catcher in the Rye for the first time a few years ago. It was one of the books that had been deemed a "classic" that lived up to the hype. Well, Mr. Salinger, you left a good one behind. Thanks. Cynique Posted January 29, 2010 Report Share Posted January 29, 2010 For so long, I've heard so much about "Catcher in the Rye" but in spite of it being touted as the definitive novel of my generation, I never read it because its voice was that of a white youth confronting life, something I didn't identify with. But I am now planning to check it out.
