Book review requested on novel What Does It Profit

Hi, now that I am a member, I am resubmitting my request for a free book review on my recent political intrigue What Does It Profit (webpage- whatdoesitprofit.info.) The paperback is 346 pages and approximately 114,605 words.  Thanks so much for your consideration.   In summary:

POLITICAL INTRIGUE * TIMELY FICTION * EASY READING * LOVE LOST * LOVE GAINED * ACTION

 

The nation could hope again.  Americans could trust a presidential candidate once again.  Religious zealots believed he was the Messiah.  Cynics wanted to grab onto him, someone tangible and greater their own sarcasm.  Folks, in between, looked forward to the future with inspiration.  They, all, chanted Malik’s name until assassins set upon their candidate and silenced his voice, driving hope into a comma.

His wife Aiwa Clinton-Fattah had little time for rage, little time for grief.  She reacted on behalf of her husband and surprised his attackers by doing what he couldn’t—search for justice.

The search was a dangerous undertaking.  Anyone with the guts to sic assassins against the next likely president wouldn’t hesitate to wipe Aiwa off the face of the earth.  She didn’t care.  What did mean something to her was protecting America and the people living there from a power that destroyed hope and embraced tyranny.

Together with individuals she trusted, she launched her own investigation, one that friend and reporter Moreen Wright put on the front page.  A coverup was sparked by the first leaf shuffled and made public.  The question then became. Could Aiwa and Moreen sustain?  Could they dodge the attacks aimed at them?  Could they see through the smokescreen of political intrigue to uncover the true assassins?  Did they have what it takes to dethrone the powers that be?  This story unfolds as unexpected heroes and villains lock in battle.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

G. A. Blakely has always loved helping others, music, having great friends, submerging in water and the art of discovery.  She managed to keep all five in the phases of her life from corporate executive to freelance writer to retirement.  In between she inspired Honey Nut Cheerios at General Mills, the permanent Audacious Freedom 1776-1876 exhibit at the African American Museum in Philadelphia, and Barak Obama’s infomercial during his 2008 campaign.

 

After a couple of failed attempts, she began authorship in earnest in 1998 starting with magazine articles before branching into newspapers, business writing and books.  She was added to up and coming writers in Contemporary Authors/Something About the Authors published by Gale services in 2003.  That same year, the Philadelphia Writers’ Conference bestowed her two awards for unpublished works for children: A Safari for Jarvis and A Safari for Anthony now found on am*zon.com under the pseudonym Glori Ann.  Her journalistic endeavors took on a variety of shapes and appeared in such well-known magazines as Essence, The Costco Connection, Upscale, Heart & Soul, Pathfinders Travel and several newspapers across the United States.

 

She is a graduate of Howard University’s psychology honors program and was a participant in the Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists notably when they were bestowed a regional Emmy for a Philadelphia mayoral debate and renewed their annual PABJ gala.  Gloria’s community volunteerism continues to attract awards.  But her greatest reward is leading a purposeful life balancing service with playful and heart healthy activities.  Her diet, well, that is another matter.
