Mzuri
************************************************************************************ This is actually the settlement of a lawsuit that was filed by the ACLU on behalf of some illegal aliens. The ACLU is the AMERICAN Civil Liberties Union so why are they representing foreigners. How do illegals have any rights as Americans. It should be unlawful for them to have standing to file any type of lawsuit against our government, since they broke the law by crossing into our nation, they have no business being here, and I wouldn't pay them 50¢. If they wanted to keep their families together, they should have stayed in their home countries until they could enter into the U.S. legally, like normal law-abiding people. They should have been jailed and/or deported. I have a feeling that the DOJ and Biden are settling this lawsuit in order to have something else to blame on Trump. But Trump would not have rolled over for these people the way that spineless, befuddled Biden is doing. Even dummycrats should be outraged by this preposterous settlement. ************************************************************************************

ProfD
There is something wrong with a picture where educated folks have to leave their home country for better opportunities elsewhere. I thought the purpose of being educated was not only marketability but paying it forward and creating opportunities for the next generation. We need to do better of job in teaching our folks how to create employment instead of looking for it. Merely having a j-o-b often means being Just over broke. Now, I can type from a personal perspective that creating opportunities and getting my folks to take advantage of them is not an easy feat. They struggle for everything they get. The difference between living in the U.S. in "third world" conditions, and being in the actual third world, is that here in the U.S. a person can lift themself out of their situation by getting busy doing something about it. But if they are a resident of an actual third world country, without any money, resources, or opportunities, it's much more difficult to make anything positive happen for themself. It's hard to get yourself out of poverty when everyone around you is in poverty also, and your entire nation is poverty struck. The police don't answer your calls? That picture and other factors is what makes Mexico a third world nation. Large parts of it are under-developed with many people living in abject poverty. There is a large area of cardboard homes visible across the border from the I-10 in El Paso, it has been that way for a long time, at least twenty years. But there are other parts of the city that are modern and well-developed, with hotels, restaurants, and everything else you would find in the U.S. I have not been to Mexico City, although I've seen it on TV. What, regular beheadings in Mexico, Ghana, and Nigeria? Now you are just making stuff up. i guess you also concede the point about Americas uniqueness in exploring its “peculiar institution.” 15 hours ago, Mzuri said: How is it antiquated if it's still in use? antiquated does not mean the world is no longer in use. Seriously, I don’t know what you mean. I did not read the dictionary definition of Third World because I already know what it means. What I am working on is what you actually wrote. You wrote paraphrasing: I think of places were people live in cardboard boxes referring, disparagingly, to Mexico. I pointed out that there are places in Mexico where people live in conditions comparable to How you describe your lifestyle. And I also referenced how Americans live and the conditions you described as Third World. So I’m trying to understand what you really mean. Also how you Described how you think about the term third world was not part of the definition provided by the Frenchman who coined the term. Daniellegfny openly disparaged Africa, describing it as a place of regular beheadings. You are doing the same thing without realizing it; in my opinion. I think about third world more in line with what @ProfD wrote. Today it is a term white countries, and the people in them, use to disparage brown countries and their people. The fact that earlier Americans called it peculiar meant it was not normal. @Troycan you prove you are 100% ADOS?

I've lived with real Africans before and they disparaged each other like it was some sort of tribal warfare. The big difference between them and blacks in the USA was that the Africans were exceptionally intelligent, they had very thick skin, and they were intensely focused on succeeding. Little if ever did I hear them whine about anything.

Stefan
To my knowledge, no funds have been issued. But I want to advise all about something that many of you may be missing. This was NOT the choice of most Democrats. This was a concerted push by certain members of a group who call themselves Progressives. This is AOC and her clique of idiots who think Latinos who cross the country's southern border illegally can do no wrong. But Haitians deserve to set upon by Border Patrol agents on horseback. I am against this proposal. Completely. But no one is going to convince me that Democrats such as Sen. Chuck Schumer, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Sen. Patty Murray, Sen. Mark Warner, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Rep. Pramila Jayapal, Rep. Katie Porter and countless other Dems hate Black people. To say so is simply an emotional overwrought response.
