Fathers Day in the black community - Does it exist ?

Recommended Posts

How many true fathers actually exist in the black community today? How many black fathers are good role models? How many black fathers help their children with their homework and teach their children to respect teachers, the police, as well as our elders?
if almost 75% of our black children are born out of wedlock to mostly young, unskilled, and low income mothers, are black men stepping up to the plate and actually leading by example? Are black children actually proud of their fathers?  Do they brag about their fathers?
Are their fathers in prison for violent crimes and serious drug offenses? Are they leading a thug life and trying to be rappers?

we need more black men to act like mature adults, make respinsible decisions and for gods sakes, the ones that do go to college please get a degree in something useful that actually makes money opposed to communications, art, sociology, and other useless degrees. How about engineering, finance, economics, computer science……. Lets put less focus on wearing silly dreadlocks , baggy pants, and getting tattoo’s. Its embarrassing to our children same with black women. It makes us look ignorant and we are viewed as circus clowns.

A meassge to Black women- Why in the world are you choosing to have babies at 18,19,  20 years old when you cant even take care of yourself? Where are the morals with black women? It comes across as ignorant and makes our women appear loose.
Please dont tell me you are a “ strong black woman”…  If you were so strong you wouldnt be making such irresponsible and selfish decsions.

Children need structure and you are not creating structure by being some kind of “ baby mama” and having the grandmama help raise our black children.

with that being said, Happy Fathers Day to those black men that did it the right way. We need more of you.

There are millions of black fathers who are positive role models to their children, families and within their communities.

These black men are unsung heroes who are chipping away at the system of racism one brick at a time. 😎

Stop making excuses ProfD. You can go to any black community in our country and ask them what their top 10 issues are and racism is NOT one of them. Racism is an excuse to not work hard and not acknowledge your own failures, give me a break. You will be complaining about racism for the next 100 years. Blacks are 100 times for likely to be attacked, robbed, or killed by another black opposed to some imaginary white supremact. I certainly hope you dont have children and feed them that racism nonsense. If you do they are doomed to fail in life.

If you want racism, ask an Asian how they would feel about their son or daughter marrying a black. Look at the expression on their face when you ask them that.

You dont think blacks are racist, they are !!!! Blacks are extremely racist.
Watch any NFL or NBA draft and you will see a bunch of idiotic blacks athletes with out of wedlock babies. Its a joke and everyone makes fun of us as if we are a bunch of ignorant circus clowns. To be honest, I dont blame them. We even talk like a bunch of idiots- “ we be wantin a new car”. “, nam sayin, we all aint be doin dat “.  Sounds funny but its not. I am infuriated over how backwards our culture has become. MLK must be rolling in his grave with the way blacks act today.

Greg, it's obvious that you're disappointed in and disgusted with black folks.

Hopefully, you've been able to set your family up in a safe and healthy environment that you all will never come across the black folks you despise.

There are plenty places in America with a less than 1% black population. Check out the great state of Wyoming. 😎

@GregGlutton for punishment that I am, I have indigestion from being subjected to the myopia of your tunnel vision which also serves as an echo chamber for the typical black conservative narrative you parrot.  Everything you lament about between the lines of your thinly-disguised white envy, is bracketed in the phrase "the black community".  In your relentless critiques you persist in equating community with class. but I'm here to challenge your rhetoric.

The types you rant about are only a portion of the "black community" and they fall under the sub-heading that sociologists categorize as the underclass, they are the people who abide in the "inner cities", a sanitized term for the "ghetto".  To you, it's as though the black middle class which represents a different lifestyle within the black community, doesn't exist.  But it does. You are not some rare paragon of virtue. There are millions of other blacks who your sordid scenarios don't describe. You're always admonishing people for not facing the truth and you need to follow your own advice. The black community is not a monolith! It is made up of different classes.

But you won't be silenced in your campaign against absentee fathers and their baby mamas, droning the same ol tired solutions full of hot air that will never solidify. You will continue to argue that this problem and what it spawns is much worse among blacks.  I, therefore, propose a cure-all for what is not just a black dilemma because what you disapprove of occurs among all ethnicities. Since males are the ones with whom the   trouble begins,  I suggest a law be passed to perform reversible vasectomies on all boy babies at birth. Sterilize them until such time as they have proven they are upstanding, gainfully-employed members of society ready for marriage, - a rite which will be preceded by an operation to reverse the vasectomy. And all will be right with the world...

Of course the odds of this happening are zilch. So just get on with your squeaky clean rubber stamp life and shut up. What you envision for the black race is not realistic. Why? Because its members are what they are and this is not a perfect world. And, personally speaking, I'd rather belong to an interesting multi-faceted species who come in all varieties and who, in spite of so much adversity, have still retained a remarkable ability to enjoy themselves, - unlike a tight-ass square like you.

What I say is true and our community continues to make the same excuses as everyone else no matter how many hardships they have , they keep passing us by economically amd socially. We earned the title of being the worlds most irresponsible/ missing in action fathers. Most black men are fathers in name only.

why is almost 75% of our black children born out of wedlock ??? why? Its an embarrassment ! Black women need to share the blame as well as they earned a very undesirable title that I dont want to get into.
Everyone else seems to get it together but are we too Lazy and ignorant to provide our children with structure and stability ? Are we to ignorant to know that having a baby at 18,19, 20 years old is extremely irrespinsible amd selfish?

guess what? The American Tax Payers are the surrogate fathers of our children. No 18,19,20 year old black girl can provide structure and stability by herself, thats for sure. You all know damn well the tax payers are providing for those kids with entitlements.

Blacks should send Fathers Day cards to the american tax payer.

@GregThe broken record you won't take off the turntable is deteriorating into static.  Furthermore, you are so insulated in what you consider a perfect life, that you actually believe that all problems have viable solutions and that logistics play no role in regulating human behavior. Also, although talk is cheap your words are no bargain. They are counterfeit.

Be advised that social services are an industry. What the bottom half of society does, is create employment for those who work for the agencies and charities that minister to the indigent and downtrodden - and well coiffed, beautifully manicured baby mamas. Whatever. Welfare doesn't cost the nation nearly as much as the military industrial complex nor the tax breaks corporate America benefits from.  A good conservative Republican mouth piece like you should appreciate the well-oiled coordination between the haves and the have-nots that keep this Capitalistic country running. Since you are so deep into shaming, you should focus on other areas of society that reek with white collar disgrace and corruption. But apparently your assignment is to stick to the script, and continue to hammer away at what a liability blacks are to the nation that has contributed to what many of them have become.

Your lectures and reprimands accomplish nothing. You're not telling blacks anything that we don't already know. The problems remain because we are not miracle workers. And you, in your role of a conservative lackey, are a part of the problem, not the solution.

No, the point is, that the ones you are criticizing don't care what you think. There's a mutual lack of respect between you and them. They consider you and your kind sell-outs and there's nothing you an do about it.  Yes, they are losers.  But so are you.  Get over it.

@Cynique you’ve dispensed a considerable amount of wisdom and your talent at doing so continues to impress me.

Glutton for punishment or not, given the time you to took respond to Greg, I presume you do not believe they are a true troll. They remain incorrigible as ever. If they are not a troll, they are not too bright. While your words are wasted on them, fortunately, I and other readers have benefited from your words.

Thank you.

@Troy Lol What exactly is a troll. Is it a bot?  i thought they were people who spammed posts with their political views and propaganda. Whatever they are, I always try to make their job harder. Writing rebuttals, be they valid or not, is good mental exercise for me.

A black man who speaks using proper english, works hard and doesnt make the racism excuse, and raises his children in a structured environment is called a sell out . There is something seriously wrong with the black community !

@GregRight, so why don't you abandon the black community and cross over into the other world where a wanna-be white, boot lickin negro like you will be well received.  Good Riddance and don't forget to take your knee pads.

These folks work on troll farms. But they're nothing like day laborers who pick fruit and vegetables. They are puppets paid to disrupt by posting propaganda.  I like your approach too! I bet, academic debate teams are training using these pawns too!

Ok @Cynique remember when @Delano said you're a magi and we all agreed lol... Look what came up in my feed yesterday 😨

"Four-year-old given vasectomy when doctors performed wrong operation"

Four-year-old given vasectomy when doctors performed wrong operation (msn.com)

"

The child from Texas went in for an operation for the hernia in his groin area in August last year, but a doctor mistakenly cut one of the tubes that carries semen.

It means the boy will likely need to have further surgery and could face fertility issues later in life."

@Cynique a "troll" is indeed someone who spams posts with their political views and propaganda. Trolling can be executed with a bot, but generally the more sophisticated trolling is implemented with an actual human and increasingly AI.  The goal of trolls vary from just being a nuisance by posting porn, advertisements, and other garbage to trying trying to influencing opinion and manipulating people.

Trolls are always characterized by the fact that they can't be reasoned with for they are not interested in dialogue. They are interested in pushing a view point, which is why they sound like a "broken record."  This is what gives Greg his troll-like characteristics the incessant repetition of BS.

For example, according to Greg, a Black man who works hard and raises his children is called a sell-out.  Who calls these Black men that?  I'm one of those Black men. I've been called a lot of things, but sell-out was never one of them.   A troll pushes absurd notions like this.

Greg and I can agree on one thing perhaps; "There is something seriously wrong with the black community."  Of course Greg would say it is the Black community itself that is the problem, and I'd assert it is the unaddressed problem of living under extremely hostile conditions for hundred of years in this country.

@Greg for example sees George Floyd as the problem, the poster child of all the ills of the Black community he's been repeating here.  That is shallow and narrow view.  Greg will never pick up a book to understand context. They embrace the simplistic view point because it is easy.  It is why many white folks were shocked by what happen to Floyd two years.

@Mel Hopkins that was an interesting video. It is almost 4 years old (since it was posted).  Since the pandemic things have only gotten worse. The worsening economy will only make things worse still.

Existing social media platforms will not "fix" their platforms as the speaks suggests is necessary.

@Mel Hopkins@Troy OK. It is becoming increasingly clear that "Greg" is a phony because he is so extremely biased, and his statements are so patented.  But now I can't  resist tweaking his nose, making him earn his salary,

What a crazy world we live in when it has come to this. My android smart phone is outdated and my FaceBook app accidently got uninstalled so i can no longer access this site. I am so disgusted with myself for being devastated by this catastrophic occurrence. TV, my computer and my phone, have become my puppet masters and exercise a ridiculous amount of control over my life. They are like addictions.  I am currently reading one of Stephen King's 500 page books in a effort to wean myself, but it's hard. i come to this board, and before I know it I am caught up in arguments and debates that feed my aggression.  What's a girl to do? If I make it to August, I'll be 89. Instead of getting older, I'm getting a second wind! Help! Hopefully, the Universe will have mercy on me, and call me home! 😳😵

89! I remember once describing you as an octogenarian and you corrected me, as you had not become one yet. Now here you are 🙂

It is amazing you are as technically fluent are you are @Cynique  My mother, who is several years your junior. has never touched a computer and does not use a smart phone.

Cynique when you were 10 years old, a Black person your age now, back then could have very well have been enslaved and old enough to have a memory of the experience.  Have you even met someone who was formerly enslaved?  if so I would love to read what know (please start another thread).  Maybe you know someone who related a story...

Gee Cynique, you sound impressive.
How can you be a better American?  Other than protest over nonsense, what have you ever really accomplished based on merit ?

@Greg Oh, stfu. As if i owe you any explanations. I will however, give you what your deserve.  I am an American by accident of birth, and couldn't care about being a better one because I don't do patriotism. You won't see me getting bleary eyed at the sight of that red white and blue polyester banner flapping in the breeze.  What i care about this jive-assed country amounts to very little.  And spare me a recitation of what you find when you consult your files for "retorts to hostile black sistas" because I am an equal opportunity cynic.  Afro centrism doesn't make my heart beat like an Ibo drum.  But the innate essence of my blackness is what dissipates the stench of sorry-assed, right-wing nerds like you.

Now, go crawl back under your rock.

@Troy My father from time to time mentioned his "coal black" grandmother who he said was a freed slave, but he didn't go into detail about this, possibly because, as i recall, she was very old and possibly senile. Also, as a child, my family would make periodic trips to Nashville,Tennessee, to visit my maternal grandfather who looked like a white man. He was born a slave but was freed when he was a child.  Floating around among my relatives are copies of the slave narrative he dictated as a participant in a project during the 1930s where crews went around the country recording memories of ex-slaves.  i have read it, and because he was only a slave for about 6 or 7 years, there wasn't a lot to tell. I do remember him talking about his father and a posse of other black townspeople fighting off a raid of Klu Klux Klanners and sent them runnin'. Most of his narrative was about his later years as a free man.

He eventually became a Deputy Sheriff assigned to keep peace in the black part of Franklin,Tennessee, where he lived...

Hey Cynique

i think you are a liar. If you dont like America you would simply move to Africa or some other country but you wont. Put your money where your mouth is and leave our country if you dont like it, we dont want you here if thats the case. You serve no purpose.

@GregWell, Dingbat,   it's been firmly established that "thinking" isn't your strong suit, so I consider the source when it comes to your opinion. Not surprising you are the personification of the old adage about things being "easier said than done".  All of the "solutions" you come up with are just clap trap, difficult if not impossible to implement. I mentioned that I was not Afro-centric so why would i decide to move to Africa? I have no love for America, but i don't have to love it to tolerate it. I'm pragmatic, not some dreamer looking for a utopian paradise. Nor am I obligated to serve a purpose by staying here. You're staying here and are a totally failure at achieving any purpose.
