The Two Pains Of Racism

Recommended Posts

After careful observation over the years, I'm convinced that there are two major causes of pain in the AfroAmerican community due to racism:

1. The first is the pain caused by DIRECT injury from racism.
-A violent act by the racists.
-Financial harm caused by racism in employmente and business
-Legal harm caused by incarceration or losing law suits for racist reasons whether it's from the judge, jury, or prosecutors

2. The second pain which is less talked and actually less known is the pain caused by REJECTION of White people
-Having one's ideas not taken seriously by Whites at work, at school, or in society

-Not having one's authority respected by Whites whether at work, at school, as a police officer, judge, ect...and constantly being "over ruled" by Whites in the same or higher position
-Jokes not being seen as funny by White colleagues

-Not being seen as attractive (or atleast they won't ADMIT they find you attractive) by Whites WE may find attractive

The 2nd cause is more insidious because as I said before, it's less known and understood by most Black people even though most of us have experienced it so much in our lives living in this society.

If we examine the REASON for the 2nd cause, we'll find out that the pain actually comes from so many of us SEEKING validation from White people to begin with.
It's the view or belief...either consciously or subconsciously...that they actually are superior and are the judge and arbiter of what is "acceptable" or "unacceptable" in this society that drives this desire to please them and be accepted by them and have our ideas accepted by them.....which in turn leads to so much anger, depression, and frustration if they aren't.

I personally make it a POINT to show White people whether at work or in society in general how much I DON'T care about their approval, what they think of me, or my ideas and that I have my OWN agenda and plans for whatever occasion....lol.

Yes.

They try to make it seem like 'you're imagining something that is not true'. Someone wrote about this in the past.

It's referred to as 'the invisible man/woman syndrome whereby racist people completely ignore you, dismiss you and write you out of script.

This was deliberate and many young Black kids are now aware of it and feel lost in the classroom when the teacher consistently ignores you when you raise your hand to respond to something. But when she does pick you to respond, she then goes into this sadistic act of shaming you for having the wrong response.

It's crazy. But many Black people are seriously affected by this issue, more than we may realize.

However, this type of conditioning has made me very angry and sometimes, I have to stress down and not put this act on all White people.

It can make you angry if you don't realize how much power you REALLY possess....especially synergistically in combination with other Black folks!

After discovering about 12 years ago that Black people....in groups...have the power to LITERALLY do anything we want to do; now much of the stress I have is over arguing and disagreeing with other BLACK PEOPLE.....not Whites.

Caucasians are no longer a factor in my opinion except on certain issues.
When it comes to money, laws, health, and safety....Black people can help ourselves achieve ANY goal as long as we're united and work together toward them.

Eliminating drugs.
Curing cancer.
Employing all people.

Literally....and I mean LITERALLY (not just figuratively or hyperbolic).....any problem you name can and have been solved by us in the past and present.

And when I talk about Black Unity, I'm not talking about uniting ALL Black people, but a "critical mass" in a given environment.
Like say atleast 10% or 25% of all the Black folks at your job or in your neighborhood deciding to get together and do something.
White folks CAN DO NOTHING to stop it and most of them wouldn't even bother to, they've learned better by now.
I KNOW this for a fact because I've experimented with it so many times.

Mind you, I'm not necessarily talking about one or two niggas hopping up cussing and acting a fool.....the police can be called to drag them away.
I'm talking about when a CRITICAL MASS of Black folks in ANY environment get fed up with the bullshit and start to fight back.....most of the time White folks just pack up and move the fuck on.  And if they don't and try to squash it....they get defeated.

Again...seen it time and time again now as well as in history.

I really wouldn't be surprised if racism and White folks were just a big TEST OF FAITH for our  courage and unity.
Like say we were put on this planet under their rule simply to see how brave we are and how faithful we would be in holding to our respect and values.
You stand strong....you pass the test and get to move up to the next level.

However like I said, the issue usually isn't White resistance..it's usually getting Black folks on the same page to do something POSITIVE.

No problem getting enough niggas together to smoke dope, get drunk, join a street gang, or go to jail.

But when it comes to uniting enough of our people to fight for higher wages, free healthcare, or demanding more business grants from the city, state, or feds.....then you often start meeting with resistance.

Niggas want to argue with you over why so many non FBAs and Caribbeans are in the group, or why so many Black women are in charge as opposed to the Black man ruling, or does the meeting and organizing line up with the "scriptures" or a host of other issues that get in the way of unity and being on the same page.

Who are the Hebrew Israelites and why do they believe that Jesus is black? | Magazine Features | Premier Christianity

"Yeah yeah yeah we need to stop police brutality
but is you DOWN with the Lion of Judah???
Is yo' name written in this book of scripture????
That's what we wanna know!
Cuz if you not.....then....well......"

Brain just filled to the BRIM with a whole bunch of bullshit that will take you nowhere NEAR progress.
Will argue with you day and night over some garbage that don't mean a damn thing and won't solve one single problem.

At this point, White people aren't the problem.

Yes they're A problem....but not THEE problem.

THEE problem is often not finding enough Black folks to unite with to accomplish a particular goal.

IMO, AfroAmericans with high self-esteem, intelligence, knowledge and talents, etc., have a better chance of mitigating the ill effects of racism. But, that only benefits us individually.

In a better adjusted society, the best of AfroAmericans would be held up as role models. That ship seems to have sailed a several decades ago.

Unfortunately, many AfroAmericans have been conditioned to roll with the punches as it relates to racism.

That indifference to racism makes it harder for AfroAmericans to build, connect and protect each other to any degree.

Having beem divided and conquered leaves many AfroAmericans vulnerable to the pains of racism. 😎

Our people need to take a balanced approach.

You can't be indifferent to racism nor paralyzed to the point of stagnation by it either.

However what I see as a major problem isn't so much racism and White folks stopping us from achieving success, I see more of a lack of a DESIRE among many of our people to do or accomplish anything beyond simple personal pleasures like getting a blow job or getting high.

In other words.....White folks ain't gotta try TOO hard to hold them back, because they aren't trying to do a damn thing anyway

Now is that shiftlessness (took me 30 years to realize what that word meant and how it became a Black stereotype) something naturally in some of our people, or is it a result of racism and constantly being victimized to the point you give up hope and stop trying?
Not sure, but I'm more inclined to believe it's the former; because I see a lot of these young fools out here who aren't OLD enough to experience too much disappointment in lives yet they aren't trying to do much besides get their jimmy sucked, smoke a blunt, and play basketball all day.
And it was the same with a large percentage of the young men when I was a kid.

This is why I have been saying over and over again and said to richard murray in the other thread, perhaps it's best that as a people we DO break up into several groups and go in our own direction for the sake of progress.

It's better for us to break up and only 10% of us advance while the other 90% stay behind; than for us to remain united and 100% stay behind.

The Two primary reason for Racism is First to create Division among peoples... and ....Secondly to maintain Power in the Hands of Rich Europeans.

For Division to occur and Stay in place...two things are essential

A Natural or Socially Constructed Difference must be Exploited....Real or Imagine

The Demonization(privations) of  one set of people and  the Celebration(reward/privilege) the other set of people.

A few definitions based on real life use.....The fundamentals of the Division a fore mentioned.

A Black Man is an African who is Enslave or  who is a descendant of enslaved Africans in the Western Hemisphere.

A White Man is  European Living in a European Ruled  Racist society

Racism is a Socio-economic Institution that exploit peoples based on skin color and or ethnic origin.

Racialism(term now defunct) is the belief in Races of Men.

All the Pains of Racism are Derive from the Demonization of Black peoples and by way of extension(continental) Africans.

The First Pain (to me) is that Racism has divorced us(Black Men) from Our Africanity....The Love of our Africanness.

The Second Pain is that Racism has instilled in us Africans to want to seek European Acceptance (Authority Permission and Beauty)....The Love of Europenness.

The Methods of Installation/Instillation and Divorce/Dissociation employed is the "Carrot or the Stick/whip" and Marginalization.

All Racist actions by Institutions or individual are reinforcement of  Racism's Reality....de jure and de facto.

The First step Toward Unity....is to bring about love of our Africanness...

Some Continental Africans hate Black westernize Africans....And Some Black westernize Africans hate Continental Africans.

Africans hate other Africans and Blacks hate other Blacks...

Most historical Black African Conscious Group try to address this Divide.....ADOS and its offshoots  aims to further divide us Blacks and Africans peoples.

We Need a unifying  Force...

IMO, the end to racism and replacement of it with a system of justice (balance and fairness among all people) will happen when the Black man as God comes back. I don't know that He will manifest in our lifetime. 😎

I agree 100%. Despite The history of Black success being destroyed in places like Black Wall Street we are our own worse enemy.

On one hand I believe in Pan Africanism on the other i believe in the unity of all people, but all people will never unify with all of these divisions class, race, and religion being just a few.

Here at home, our culture is firmly rooted in the individual. The culture is simply not set up for us to optimize working for the benefit of the group rather than the self. This is why we are so easily explored exploited and the rich get richer.

most people i believe are just trying to get through life with a modicum of comfort. They are not thinking about working to benefit the lives of other Black people or even the next generation. We, Anericans, can’t even hold our families together. How can we possible hold a community together.

Personally, I would be down to try to do something, but organizing people is not my thing. In fact I’m not even really  a participant in organizations.

Ignoring this website,  maybe just one of the masses just trying eek out a half way decent life for myself and my kids and don’t have much energy for anything else…

but it something came along that i believed in i would be down.

@Troy, your post nailed it. Individualism and comfort here in America definitely make it harder for people to unify for anything.

I've posted it several times but the illusion of an expanded middle class and gross consumerism are the opiates that keep Americans anesthetized.

It takes a tragedy or a major situation for people to unite. Apparently, racism alone isn't bad enough. 😎

I disagree with two parts...the rest I am in agreement with

A. the issue usually isn't White resistance

B. we are our own worse enemy.

White resistance (is racism) comes in various disguises...and one of them is "we are our worst enemies"

1. Demonization of black peoples and their culture.

2. Marginalization of black communities.

3. Underemployment.

4. Learned Helplessness.

5. Benign Neglect.

6. Black unity is attacked and seen as a threat.

7. Undermining the black family

8. Separate interpretation of Laws

9. Inferior Education...Neglect and inferiorization of african accomplishment - results disaffection of black students

10. Institutionalization of Blaming the victim for being victimize.

11. Dumping in black communities.

12. Unequal access to National resources...financial institution, medical institutions etc

13. Overcrowding in schools and communities..

14. Food desert.

15. Over Policing.

16. Readily availability of Drugs and Alcohol - Numbification

17. Political alienation...Voter Apathy

18. Urban blight

19. Kept in a state Constant Paranoia (fear and foreboding) - breeds desperation - crime

20. Black success is exceptionalized.

....etc they all fall under racism

Racism is a direct frontal attack on black people on too many levels to list them all

I know you don't believe in the concept that there is more than one race, however IF it were true.....wouldn't humanity ALREADY be divided?

There would be no need to divide humanity because they were already divided among racial lines.
Perhaps the only thing needed was for people to ACKNOWLEDGE those divisions and act on them and that's where the problems would come.

You're right.
It usually takes a tragedy or crisis to unite people and get them to working together in THIS society.

A modern example was how Franklin Roosevelt united the nation to fight the Great Depression by coming up with the Public Works Projects that put people back to work, Social Security program to help older Americans, and other large scale projects that forced Americans to work together and see success in order to lift themselves out of poverty.

But in most other societies...a DICTATOR usually get's the job done and keep people humming right along with the program.

However I must keep it real.....
There are certain people I'd rather NOT unite with.

1. Racist Caucasians
2. Ignorant wicked Black people.

Those two groups, I have no desire what so ever to unite with and would prefer they stay out of my space and land.

That is the idea behind Racism

Racialism is the Idea that there are more than one human race.

Racism is the acceptance and acknowledgement of Racial differences and then forcing peoples to act along those lines of divisions by institutionalization.

It is relatively easy to divide people....whats a little more challenging is to unite people

How do you KNOW this Earth itself isn't trillions of years old?

Do White folks have to say it FIRST before you believe it?
The SAME White folks who used to teach that his planet was barely 6000 years old and was only made a few days before Adam was????

I don't know.

However I don't believe it started in Africa because most of the Black tribes of Africa talk of having come FROM the Egypt/Ethiopia area and moving West and South
We KNOW where the White and Arab/Berber tribes come from...but the Black tribes ALSO speak of arriving in their lands after their ancestors traveled their from the East or North.

This tells me that people ENTERED Africa through the Kemet/Egypt Africa originally.....not came out of it.

What link  can you provide as a source  on any one of  the following ideas??

"talk of having come FROM the Egypt/Ethiopia area and moving West and South"??

My understanding is that they came from as far South as the Congo and Tanzania with Uganda in the West  and  Kenya & Ethiopia in NE... Mountain Range in either Uganda or Kenya being ground zero

The links are out there, as well as links that claim the opposite.
As I've said time and time again, it's HISTORY....."his-story" so unless we have a time machine to get into together and go back and witness these events for ourselves....we'll simply be going back and forth with each other over THEORIES.

I provide a bunch of links....then you disagree with them and set out to disprove them with your own.

Not trying to do that because I see no benefit in it.
Not even for entertainment purposes.

I'm seeking unity with a SELECT GROUP.

Select Group Unity is already a Fact....Many people Think they Belong to one  Select Group or The Other - The Other is the problem we Create

The Truth remains the same....The most discernible unity we all share is our Humanity - African.
