Playing more than one more person in a film is
nothing new to Eddie Murphy. He handled two
roles rather brilliantly in Bowfinger, and met
with as much success cast as eight in Nutty
Professor I and II. Because in the past hes
appeared to be quite comfortable cross-dressing
and wearing a fat-suit for the camera, it is
rather surprising that Norbit would turn out to
be such an unmitigated disaster.
There are two basic routes
to getting published, mainstream and
self-publishing. Mainstream is when you submit
your work to a publishing company to have them
publish it. Self-publishing is when you decide
to publish your own books. They both can be
equally effective although the mainstream manner
is the most respected because it has an aura or
illusion of validation. Where self-publishing
does not offer the validation from the
establishment, it offers a satisfaction of
artistic and economic control of ones work.
Born in Chicago on March 13, 1972, Lonnie
Rashid Lynn, Jr. is said to be one of seven
children fathered by the former pro-basketball
player of the same name. After dropping out of
Florida A&M, he changed his name to Common Sense
before making his debut as a hip-hop artist by
releasing a CD entitled Can I Borrow a Dollar?
His next album, Resurrection, sparked a
feud with West Coast gangsta rapper Ice Cube,
tensions which were only quelled after the two
sat down with Minister Louis Farrakhan. He
shortened his name to just Common after some
losers in a garage band sued him, claiming to
have the exclusive trademark for Common Sense.
...The veteran Irish actor
lost out to prohibitive-favorite Forest Whitaker
(The Last King of Scotland) who was both gushy
and gracious in delivering the most emotional
acceptance speech of the evening. Collecting
himself while fighting back tears, Forest
reminisced about his childhood. When I was a
kid, the only way I saw movies was from the back
seat of my family's car at the drive-in, he
began. It wasn't my reality to think I would be
acting in movies. So, receiving this honor
tonight tells me it is possible for a kid from
East Texas, raised in South Central L.A. and
Carson, who believes in his dreams, commits
himself to them with his heart, to touch them
and to have them happen.

Apartheid: The Dark History of Medical

Ms. Washington, a Harvard and Tuskegee-trained
scholar in ethics and journalism, conducted
exhaustive research in order to be able to shed
light on the countrys racism in the name of
scientific research. Among the brutalities
uncovered here by the author is proof that
black women have been systematically sterilized
without their consent, and that the brains of
African-American children as young as six have
secretly been surgically excised.
Do you still think of people of different skin
colors as being from different races? You
probably wont any longer after reading The Race
Myth: Why We Pretend Race Exists in America.
Written by evolutionary biologist Joseph L.
Graves, Jr., this persuasive polemic succinctly
states that theres no scientific explanation
for these so-called racial classifications,
and that these distinctions have their basis not
in biology but in bigotry.

Through the prism of culture, Harlem World

Due to our approach and the stances weve
taken, Ive been at the center of more
ideological and political controversies than any
other rap personality. I have been charged with
being misogynistic, anti-Semitic, racist,
seditionist, and anti-American. Despite all of
that, we gotta do what we gotta do. With the
current state of rap music and lyrics, theres a
huge gap between what the artists are serving,
and what the audience wants, in fact, and more
importantly, what the audience needs. Ive come
up with an acronym called R.H.Y.M.E., which
stands for Rap Has Your Minds Empty. Theres
only so much you can rap about what you drive,
what you wear, or how much money you have, and
as the Hip-Hop listener gets older but has
little or no specialized skills in an
increasingly competitive and technology based
economy, little marketable education, to go
along with children and increased
responsibilities to take care of, they will seek
and demand more. Excerpted from Chuck D: Lyrics
of a Rap Revolutionary
"There is nothing intrinsically wrong with
a weave or wig. I think the problem is that many
black women believe that we can't grow their own
natural hair long and this is simply untrue.
It's much cheaper also!"

Author of Campus CEO:
The Student Entrepreneur's Guide to Launching a
Multimillion Dollar Business, Pinkett
describes; Every year, hundreds of thousands of
students in the U.S. enter college totally
clueless as to their choice of a major, and even
less sure about what they will do with the rest
of their lives. But for a growing number of
students, the financial pressures of college are
far more taxing than the academic rigors of
campus life. As a result, many students rely
heavily on financial aid, loans, part-time jobs,
strict budgets, and whatever money their parents
can afford to send them. Many students take
dead-end jobs with no relevance to their college
programs, while others even work on a full-time
basis--sacrificing grades for dollars--and
unwittingly setting themselves up to become
college drop-outs. However, students don't
have to suffer through a penniless college
existence... Read more about this book and
