THE AALBC ANNOUNCES THE BEST AFRICAN AMERICAN AUTHORS AND TITLES OF THE 20th CENTURY
BROOKLYN, New York (December 21, 1998) -- The African American Literature Book Club (AALBC) will release the results of their, six month long, on-line voting for the "Best 100 African American Books" and the "Best 50 African American Authors" of the 20th Century. The final results will be released February, Black History Month, 1999. The current rankings are now available on-line at http://aalbc.com/books/thebestauthors.htm
.The current top authors include such greats as Langston Hughes and Zora Neale Hurston. Some contemporary favorites include Maya Angelou, J. California Cooper, Eric Jerome Dickey, Sheneska Jackson, and Walter Mosley. Some of the best titles selected include Alice Walkers The Color Purple, E. Lynn Harris And This Too Shall Pass, and Ralph Ellisons Invisible Man. There are also profiles for each of the top authors and descriptions for each of the books.
Over 1,100 votes have been cast as of December 6th 1998.
