Dr. Manning Marable is one of America’s most influential and widely read
scholars. Since 1993, Dr. Marable has been Professor of Public Affairs,
Political Science, History and African-American Studies at Columbia
University in New York City. For ten years, Dr. Marable was founding
director of the Institute for Research in African-American Studies at
Columbia University, from 1993 to 2003. Under Dr. Marable’s leadership,
the Institute became one of the nation’s most prestigious centers of
scholarship on the black American experience.
Yvonne Bynoe is widely regarded as a leading figure among
a new generation of public intellectuals. She currently provides political
and cultural commentary for the National Public Radio (NPR) program, News
and Notes with Ed Gordon. Bynoe’s straightforward analysis has garnered her
praise from academics and average citizens. Acclaimed scholar,
Manning Marable has called Bynoe “one of Hip Hop Culture’s most
insightful observers.”
Being duped by love was the best thing to ever happen to
this new literary superstar! With one of the most hilarious novels
written this year under her belt, Patricia Wilson-Smith, the new comic
face of romance and dating in America shows no signs of slowing down.
After being unceremoniously duped by a would be online
suitor, this mother of one and talented musician sat down to write a
tearful recount of her experience, and ended up penning one woman’s
semi-fictional account of traversing the Atlanta dating scene—the
laugh-out-loud tour de farce, “Duped By Love”.
Out
of Bounds: Coming Out of Sexual Abuse, Addiction, and My Life of Lies in
the NFL Closet by Roy Simmons - Book Review by Kam Williams
http://reviews.aalbc.com/out_of_bounds.htm
“There was this constant worry in the back of my head about being found
out for liking men. I’d venture to say that the stigma of homosexuality
among young black men is three or four times greater than it is for
young white men. Because I was a football player, folks just naturally
assumed I was straight… I was living a closeted life in my own little
closeted world. Nobody knew. I doubt anybody even suspected.”
—Excerpted from Chapter 5
Forced into Glory represents the fruit of Bennett’s labors, and this 652
page biography sets the record straight, exposing the real Abe Lincoln,
wart and all. Virtually every myth gets exploded along the way, as
the author uncovers his subject as an insensitive bigot who, for
instance, advocated peace while waging a war of ethnic cleansing on
Native Americans.
“Since race itself is a fraudulent concept, devoid of
scientific reality, racism can only be justified through the suppression
of black counter-narratives that challenge society’s understanding about
itself and its own past. Racism is perpetuated and reinforced by the
historical logic of whiteness, which repeatedly presents whites as the
primary actors in the important decisions that have influenced the
course of human events.
There is considerable historical evidence that undermines the coherence
and legitimacy of that master narrative of American history. Why do the
great masses of white Americans remain unmoved?" —Sampled from
Chapter One

Kola Boof's long awaited autobiography
"Diary of a Lost Girl" is nothing less than magnificent. Many will be
spellbound by more than 90 pages detailing her terrifying experience as
Osama Bin Laden's former mistress, but the Sudanese-born Novelist/Poet
writes even more profoundly about the hardships of being vaginally
circumcised, about witnessing her birth parents killed in her presence
as a small child, about slavery and Arabism in Sudan, about being
adopted and raised in the U.S. by African Americans, about her quest for
true love, and in one particularly daring chapter, about her hopes for
the future of her sons.
