The Detroit Writer�s Guild in partnership with the University of Detroit Mercy proudly announce the 2002 Midwest Poets & Writers Conference August 23 & 24,2002.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER 

Best selling author, Timmothy B. McCann has written three highly acclaimed novels, Always, Until, and Forever. His latest novel, Emotions, achieved best-seller status and was featured in the Black Expressions Book Club. McCann�s work has also been featured in the best-selling anthology Brown Sugar.

SPECIAL INVITED GUESTS 

Award-winning journalist Glenn R. Townes has written for dozens of national publications including UPSCALE, Essence, and the Miami Herald Acclaimed Broadway playwright, Ron Milner writer and producer of �Checkmates�. Multiple award winning and USA Today best-selling author Laura Parker has penned over thirty romance novels. New York poet Eddie Bell has appeared in Poetry Project�s Poetry Marathon. Nebula Award winner, science fiction writer Bruce Holland Rogers.

OVERVIEW

Metropolitan Detroit�s oldest nonprofit literary guild, the Detroit Writer�s Guild, proudly announces its 4th Annual Midwest Poets & Writers Conference. This highly-anticipated event will take place Friday, August 23-Saturady, August 24, 2002 at the University of Detroit Mercy campus. More than 300 writers from across the United States are expected to attend. The conference will feature authors and poets of the highest caliber; all gathered to share their expertise with you. Attendees will also have the unique opportunity to attend the Detroit Writer�s Guild Poetry Jam.

MANUSCRIPT CRITIQUES 

POETRY
Submit up to 10 pages of poetry in standard format. 

FICTION/NONFICTION
Submit up to 20 pages, standard format.
