AALBC Update: I’m upgrading our website—please pardon any minor “bumps” along the way.

AALBC 2026 Website Upgrades and Enhancements

For three decades, AALBC has been the primary destination for discovering books by and about people of African descent. As we enter 2026, I’ve made our most significant infrastructure and user-experience upgrade to date—and this is just the beginning!

1. Infrastructure & Speed Upgrades

I’ve moved AALBC to a high-performance AlmaLinux 9 VPS environment.

  • Lightning-Fast Loads: Optimized database queries mean your favorite book lists and author profiles load in milliseconds.
  • Advanced Security: Our multi-layer firewall strategy (Sucuri + Cloudflare) protects our unique data from malicious scrapers while ensuring a safe browsing experience for you.

2. Unified User Experience (Single Sign-On)

I’m moving away from fragmented logins to provide a new Unified Member Portal, which allows you to use your email or Social Logins (Google, Facebook, etc.) to access the entire AALBC ecosystem with one account (coming soon).

One Login, Total Access:

  • The Forums: Engage in deep literary discussions without re-logging in.
  • Shopping Cart: Save your book hauls and checkout seamlessly.
  • Member-Only Content: Exclusive access to premium bestseller reports and deep-dive literary analysis.

3. Your Personal Literary Hub (The Profile Page)

Your new AALBC profile is more than just a settings page—it’s your digital bookshelf.

  • Liked Books: A curated list of every title you’ve ever “hearted.”
  • Followed Authors: Get “New Book Alerts” the moment your favorite authors release a new title.
  • Bookseller & Publisher Tools: Specialized content and data views designed specifically for industry professionals.

A Trip Down Memory Lane

AALBC didn’t get here overnight. AALBC has survived and thrived through every era of the internet—from the early days of dial-up to the modern AI-driven web.

Check out AALBC’s evolution over the past 30 years and see how we’ve grown from a simple book club to the internet’s most robust Black literary resource.

AALBC.com is here because of you. We do not thrive without your support: sharing the site with a friend, buying a book, paying for your newsletter subscription, everything big and small combines to have a huge impact. Each of you matters to this website’s success.

Peace and Love,
