Biography of Cassidy Dyce

Cassidy Dyce is a fiction writer, educator, and creative mentor whose work reflects a deep commitment to storytelling and community. Based just outside Charlottesville, Virginia, she is represented by Jenna Satterwaite of Storm Literary Agency.

A graduate of Christopher Newport University in 2019, Cassidy began her literary career in the Pacific Northwest, where she immersed herself in a wide range of media and writing opportunities. From 2020 to 2022, she served as a writer assistant to Newbery Medalist Kwame Alexander, an experience that offered a close view of the craft and discipline of a master storyteller. Her creative versatility also extends to production and scriptwriting; she worked as an associate producer on an NPR segment and wrote scripts for “Wordplay,” a web series on ABC Mouse that introduces children to the joy of language.

In 2023, Cassidy joined Seattle Arts & Lectures as a Writer-in-the-Schools (WITS) instructor, bringing her passion for reading and creative expression to classrooms across Seattle. She collaborated with educators to help students rediscover the excitement of storytelling and build confidence in their own voices. She also taught at Hugo House, where she encouraged emerging writers and was honored with a prestigious Hugo House Writing Fellowship.

Dedicated to uplifting Black voices in the literary arts, Cassidy founded Writing Black @ The House, an inclusive writing group designed to inspire, empower, and connect Black writers at every level. The program reflects her belief in the power of supportive creative spaces and community-centered storytelling.

Cassidy is also the co-author of the graphic novel series Brainstormerz, created with Kwame Alexander and illustrated by Rashad Doucet. The series follows three friends whose imaginations propel them into wild adventures where creativity becomes their greatest tool.

Through her writing, teaching, and community leadership, Cassidy Dyce continues to champion the transformative power of story.
