DMarie Barclay
Biography
DMarie Barclay is a lifelong educator and community advocate with deep roots in both the Caribbean and New York City. Raised in Brooklyn, she is a proud product of New York City public schools and holds degrees from William Paterson University and Brooklyn College.
With over 30 years of service in the NYC public school system, DMarie has dedicated her life to nurturing minds and empowering communities. Her passion for global education took her to Kenya, where she spent a transformative year teaching as a volunteer with the International Foundation for Education and Self-Help (IFESH). That journey birthed her first poetry and photography book, Face the Children, in 1999.
Beyond the classroom, DMarie is a creative spirit and passionate wellness advocate. Her personal journey through illness and recovery, guided by both conventional and holistic healing, has deeply influenced her approach to life and healing in everything she does.
Today, DMarie’s goal is to inspire others to embrace:
- Self-empowerment
- Self-advocacy
- Wellness, both in education and in life
