Dionne Warwick

Marie Dionne Warwick (born December 12, 1940) ranks among the 40 biggest US hitmakers between 1955–1999, based on her chart history in Billboard’s Hot 100 pop singles chart. She is the second-most charted female vocalist during the rock era. She is also one of the most charted vocalists of all time with 56 of her singles making the Hot 100 between 1962–1998 (12 Top 10s) and 80 singles in total—either solo or collaboratively—making the Hot 100, R&B and/or adult contemporary charts. Dionne ranks #74 on the Billboard Hot 100’s Greatest Artists of All Time.

During her career, she sold more than 100 million records worldwide, and she has won many awards, including six Grammys. Warwick has been inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Grammy Hall of Fame, the R&B Music Hall of Fame, and the Apollo Theatre Walk of Fame. In 2019, she won the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Three of her songs—“Walk On By,” “Alfie,” and “Don’t Make Me Over”—have been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. She is a former Goodwill Ambassador for the UN’s Food & Agriculture Organization. Dionne received a Kennedy Center Honor in 2023 and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2024. Dionne has been dubbed the “Queen of Twitter” for her outspoken comments on social media, of which Saturday Night Live does a recurring parody.

Warwick has announced the final album of her 65-year recording career, entitled DWuets. Its first single features a first-time collaboration between Warwick and Emmy Award–, Tony Award–, and 2x Grammy Award–winning and 3x Oscar-nominated artist Cynthia Erivo. DWuets is a full album of duets written entirely by 17-time Oscar nominee and Special Oscar recipient Diane Warren—marking the first time Warwick and Warren have worked together. Longtime friends, Warwick and Warren call each other by their mutual initials “DW,” reflected in the album's title. Oscar-nominated, 2x Grammy Award–winning producer Damon Elliott produced all the album's duets.

Warwick’s relatives include vocalists Cissy Houston (aunt), Whitney Houston (cousin) and Leontyne Price (cousin).

Golden Globe winner, Oscar nominee, and Grammy Award winner Teyana Taylor will be playing Warwick in an upcoming biopic. Taylor is a singer, songwriter, actress, model, dancer, choreographer, and music video director.
