Biography

Jennifer L. Morgan is [2021] Professor of Social and Cultural Analysis and History at New York University, author of Laboring Women: Reproduction and Gender in New World Slavery, and coeditor of Connexions: Histories of Race and Sex in America.

Morgan is a 2024 MacArthur Foundation’s “Genius” Grant Winner, for ”Deepening understanding of how the exploitation of enslaved women enabled the institutionalization of race-based slavery in early America and the Black Atlantic.“ Photo credit © John D. and Catherine T.
