Laura Pegram

Laura Pegram, founding editor and publisher of Kweli Journal, is a multi-hyphenate artist whose work is influencing a new generation of writers. She is an author, educator, and jazz vocalist who has performed in cabaret with acclaimed jazz pianist Donald Smith. She is also a painter, with richly hued murals featured in several private collections. Mentored by poet-activist June Jordan, who taught her that the sky was her ceiling, Pegram continues to inspire through her artistic and editorial contributions.
