Malou Beauvoir
“The spirits that carried us across oceans still walk beside us today — and it’s time our children knew their names.”
Biography of Malou Beauvoir
Malou Beauvoir is a Haitian-American, award-winning singer, songwriter, and actress. She currently appears in Spellbound, Seasons 1 and 2, which have been airing on Hulu since October 2024.
Beyond her work in entertainment, Malou’s creative journey is deeply rooted in the rich traditions of Haitian culture and spirituality. Her sixth studio album, Spiritwalker, is a musical homage to her Haitian Vodou spirits and a heartfelt tribute to her late uncle, Max Beauvoir, who served as the Ati — the highest spiritual authority, or “Pope” of Vodou — until his passing. Inspired by his legacy, Malou has taken up the mantle of redefining Vodou in the global narrative, honoring its artistry, cultural depth, and ancestral wisdom, especially its sacred plant medicine traditions. Spiritwalker has been featured in films and its songs have garnered over three million views across platforms.
In addition to her music, Malou is the founder and designer of Modern Manbo, a fashion brand inspired by Vodou and rooted in the strength of the Manbo — the female Vodou priestess and vital symbol of leadership and empowerment.
Malou Beauvoir now brings her multifaceted artistry to children’s literature with her new project, Our Vodou, a two-part book series that invites young readers to explore the ancestral journey and spiritual legacy of the African diaspora. The series celebrates heritage, resilience, and the sacred wisdom passed down through generations (photo credit: Michael Benabib).
