Biography of Paul Robeson Jr.
In 1921, Robeson married Eslanda Cardozo Goode, and in 1923, he received his degree from Columbia Law School. A few years later they had a son, Paul Robeson, Jr.
Paul Robeson, Jr., is the only child of the legendary Paul Robeson. He has been a civil rights activist since the 1940s, served for more than 20 years as his father’s close aide, and is the archivist of the vast Robeson Papers. He is a graduate electrical engineer and a member of the New York Academy of Sciences, a translator from Russian, and a lecturer on American and Russian society and history. His book, Paul Robeson, Jr., published in 1993, presents a new analysis of America’s “culture wars.”
Paul Robeson, Jr. has lectured on a wide variety of political, socio-economic and cultural issues throughout the United States and the United Kingdom, and has traveled all over the world. He has been a guest on numerous television and radio programs, and has contributed articles to major newspapers and magazines. He has co-produced and written theater scripts for several major tributes to his father. Since 1995, he has been working on the development of a dramatic feature film of his father, titled Robeson, and wrote a two-volume biography of him. The first volume was published in the spring of 2001. Paul’s is the father of writer Susan Robeson
