Biography

Rashad Phillips is a former professional basketball player and author. Born on May 5, 1978, in Detroit, Michigan, Phillips played as a 5-foot 9-inch guard. Phillips had a notable collegiate career at the University of Detroit Mercy, where he became the school’s all-time leading scorer with 2,319 points. In 2001, he received the Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award, honoring the nation’s top college basketball player under six feet.

After college, Phillips pursued a professional basketball career, playing in various leagues both domestically and internationally, including stints in Australia, France, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey. He retired from professional basketball in 2010.

Transitioning to authorship, Phillips published Basketball Position Metric: The Evolution Is Being Televised in October 2022. In this book, he examines the evolution of basketball positions and introduces a new metric for evaluating players, sharing insights and stories from the game’s history.
