Renata Cherlise

Renata Cherlise is a multidisciplinary, research-based visual artist who uses various mediums to explore themes of identity, family, and culture. With a seamless blend of her Southern upbringing and contemporary methodologies, Cherlise reimagines notions of the Black experience in both digital and physical spaces.

One of Cherlise’s notable projects is Black Archives, an evolving archival project that began as a photo-based website and has now transformed into a collaborative platform. Through Black Archives, Cherlise showcases archival histories and modern-day stories from across the African diaspora, creating a space for collective exploration and understanding.
