Sue Nyathi

Biography

Sukoluhle “Sue” Nyathi was born, bred, and buttered in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, and now resides in South Africa. She describes herself as an analyst by profession and a writer by passion.

Nyathi has built a career spanning more than 20 years in the financial services sector. In 2018, destiny redirected her path, allowing her to retire from that career and pursue writing full-time.

Sue is the author of four published novels: The Polygamist (2012), The Gold Diggers (2018), A Family Affair (2020), and An Angel’s Demise (2022). She also edited the anthology When Secrets Become Stories, Women Speak Out (2021), a collection of predominantly nonfiction essays exploring gender-based violence through the different stages of womanhood.

She co-wrote Positively Me: Daring to Live and Love Beyond HIV (2024) with Nozibele Mayaba. Nyathi has also ventured into film writing and has earned screenwriting credits. She is currently working on her fifth novel and is involved in guest curating literary festivals.
