Biography

Tembi Locke is a writer, entrepreneur, and thought leader in creativity and resilience. She is a New York Times bestselling author, television producer, actor, and screenwriter with a passion for connecting with audiences both on the page and on the screen.

In partnership with Hello Sunshine, Tembi served as co-creator and executive producer of the Netflix adaptation of her memoir, From Scratch: A Memoir of Love, Sicily, and Finding Home. The series, From Scratch, became an instant global hit, spending weeks on Netflix’s Top Ten list in more than thirty countries and earning six NAACP Image Award nominations, as well as the prestigious Los Angeles Italia Film Award. Her memoir was also a Reese’s Book Club selection and an instant bestseller. Tembi and her producing partner and sister, Attica Locke, are currently under an overall development deal with Universal Television.

In addition to her accomplishments as a writer and producer, Tembi is an accomplished actor with more than sixty film and television credits. Most recently, she held a recurring role on Netflix’s hit series Never Have I Ever.

Offscreen, she is a nationally recognized speaker, delivering keynote addresses on resilience, loss, creativity, and the power of storytelling. Her TEDx talk has been viewed by audiences around the world. She is also the host of the podcast Lifted, which features dynamic women sharing stories about the people and experiences that have elevated their lives.
