Lindiwe Stovall Lester

Lindiwe Stovall-Lester views writing and publishing as a labor of legacy—an opportunity to share knowledge that may benefit others, inspire change, and even alter the course of a life.

She has written both formally and informally for many years. Her experience includes designing training manuals and educational booklets for churches and businesses, coaching college students as they completed degree-required writing proficiency papers, and editing doctoral dissertations to help scholars communicate their ideas clearly and effectively. She has also guided emerging authors through the self-publishing process, particularly those whose stories were more developed than their writing skills. In addition, she has written public relations materials, newsletter articles, and website content in support of organizations and meaningful causes.

An avid reader, researcher, activist, and observer of the human condition, Stovall-Lester is especially interested in matters of race, power, leadership, and human development. Her work explores how individuals and communities can more fully realize their potential. Drawing upon decades of professional experience, historical study, and community engagement, she seeks to create books and articles that serve as instruments of reflection, inspiration, and positive change—particularly for the next generation.

Stovall-Lester has more than 35 years of experience in public-sector and nonprofit leadership. Her professional journey began with service as a liberation theologian in the Pan-African Orthodox Christian Church and continued through nonprofit executive leadership and human development consulting. For more than two decades, she has researched, written about, and taught African and African American history to adults and young people in community and university settings.

After retiring in 2017 from a successful career as a senior nonprofit executive, she continued serving individuals, organizations, and communities as president of a leadership coaching and consulting company.

Her publishing focuses primarily on two areas in which she has extensive knowledge and experience: leadership development and African and African American history. Both reflect her commitment to advancing positive human development.

Together with her husband and intellectual partner, Sondai, Stovall-Lester regards historical study as a foundation for discovering the inner strength needed to confront and help transform the world. She believes Black history provides an essential framework for understanding both the historical and present-day conditions of Black people. It also serves as connective tissue linking generations of resilience, creativity, perseverance, and ingenuity.
