When the snow had finished falling, and the roads were cleared, James W. Haskins, Jr. was able to drive his wife Janie L. Moore-Haskins, to Provident Hospital in Sandusky, Ohio. The winter sun had set over the Ohio skyline and Scott Denton Haskins was born. It was February 21, 1962.

After two years in Ohio, then two more in the East Orange section of New Jersey, the Haskins’ family settled in the Wynnefield section of West Philadelphia, PA.

The epitome of a sports fanatic, Scott excelled in little league baseball, football and basketball. After reluctantly writing a mandatory article in the sixth grade which he titled, "Why I Like To Read," and surprisingly winning the school writing contest, Scott suddenly realized that writing wasn’t all that bad of a thing to do.

In 1979, he entered a two week journalism workshop at Temple University, in Philadelphia, PA. An article written by Scott, entitled, "Women Weaker in Paychecks," was published in the Philadelphia Tribune. A local Black newspaper.

Scott enrolled in Hampton Institute in 1980, and completed two and a half years towards his Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Mass Media Arts, with a Journalism minor. He also participated in Intramural Football, Basketball, and Softball (championship team). In the spring of 1982 he was inducted into the Gamma Iota Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. The first Black Greek Letter Organization. He also spent a semester at George Mason University.

Less than a year after leaving Hampton, Scott married his college sweetheart, Felicia Jones. They lived in Philadelphia for two years before matriculating to Hyattsville, MD. Shortly thereafter, Scott started as a part-time employee for United Parcel Service. Their first child, Scott D. Haskins, II was born in January of 1988. Scott moved his family to Columbia, MD in 1991. In January of 1993, his daughter, Narcissa Evelyn Haskins was born.

Scott and his family purchased their first home in February of 1995. They now live in Elkridge, MD, a trucking town, which is slowly being converted into a residential community. Scott has been at UPS for the last eleven years where he is presently a full-time Preloader.

One dream that Scott always talked about was writing a book. After seven or so frustrating years of working, hard, at UPS, Scott finally commenced the writing of his first novel. Three years later, he is thrilled to present Sasha’s Way, to all who are looking for a thrilling ride inside of a woman who isn’t as mad as she may appear.
