Biography

Carrie R. Moore is the author of the story collection Make Your Way Home, which won the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award for Fiction. Her work has appeared in The Best American Short Stories, Oprah Daily, American Short Fiction, The Sewanee Review, and One Story, among other publications.

She earned her MFA from the Michener Center for Writers, where she won the Keene Prize for Literature, and later became the inaugural Writer-in-Residence at the Steinbeck Writers’ Retreat. In 2026, she was named a 5 Under 35 honoree by the National Book Foundation.

Born in Georgia, Moore lives in Texas with her husband, where she writes about Black love and longing.
