Chris Crowe

Biography

Chris Crowe, Ph.D. was born in Danville, Illinois, and is the author of several acclaimed books, most notably Mississippi Trial, 1955, which received numerous honors, including the 2003 International Reading Association Young Adult Novel Award. His nonfiction work Getting Away with Murder: The True Story of the Emmett Till Case was recognized as a Jane Addams Honor Book.

His first children’s book, Just as Good: How Larry Doby Changed America’s Game, was published in 2012. His historical novel Death Coming Up the Hill, released in October 2014, was named to the American Library Association’s 2015 Best Fiction for Young Adults list.

Chris married his high school sweetheart, and they live in Provo, Utah, where he works in the English Department at Brigham Young University. Together they have four children and eight grandchildren — three granddaughters and five grandsons.
